Wow, Derk, considering that weapons of mass destruction were found (sarin gas warheads), and evidence that a large portion of the rest of his weapons were moved out of country right before we attacked, I’m not totally seeing how W. “lieing” and WMD are related. Maybe your assuming because we didn’t find “alot” of WMD that it doesn’t count. Or maybe saddam moving his weapons out suddenly means that they were never there in the first place. You know, pot smokers should use that concept with the police. “Before you got your warrent, I moved my pot out of my house to my neighbors, therefore, I never had any pot to start with!” or “You only found two pot plants, therefore it’s doesn’t count as having any pot at all!”. Brilliant use of logic Derk, I’ve just never seen it that way before…
Steve don’t go making up crap to prove your side of the issue.
You have your head so far up Bush’s ass to even think for yourself or how you want your taxdollar spent. I bet you thought yourself back in 2000, I really want to contribute $3000 as a taxpayer to go bomb the hell out of Iraq, and try to liberate them.
Yea.. I’m sure you were all so concerned. Me? I’d rather have spent $3000 on keeping some kid from going hungry, but that’s just my f$#ked up view of the world, crazy aren’t I?
Do a search in yahoo for “Sarin gas warheads found in Iraq”. I guess the fact that WMD were found in Iraq is just not convenient for you liberals, so you just ignore it. You even accuse people who tell the truth of “making up crap”. Now if I was that smooth politically, maybe I could get elected… no wait, that’s just stupid.
Steve, a warhead is not a Weapon of Mass Destruction … you need to put something in it … the things that were all destroyed by the UN Inspectors!
Derk, good luck re-defeating Bush. As the former British Foreign Minister (Sec of State) put it … ‘the US and Britain have a huge problem with international terrorists in IRAQ, the only problem is it’s us!”
I represent all those in the world who say the US Constitution and form of governance as the pillars of freedom, fairness and development that deservedly made it the only superpower. Our hearts are heavy seeing this destroyed by the bombing of civilians , with children being called collateral damage and people being kidnapped, tortured and caged in orange uniforms all in the name of freedom! The US should have showed Osama and his band of bandits that we don’t settle our scores with civilian deaths, bombing of buildings in foreign countries (with the US Airforce or US Air), and caging civilians and humiliating them in the eyes of the world. A new standard is being set…. and America is setting it NOT the so called terrorist
Then I would ask what the former British Foreign Minister’s definition of terrorism is, Sipho. It’s certainly not the standard one of deliberately targeting civilians. None of those acts you mentioned are policies of the U.S. and if they are true, are aberrations.
The problem, Emory, is that the survivors of those “Abberations” don’t view those actions as abberations. They see them as the acts of an occupation forces that doesn’t value Iraqi lives. And that is true. When we bomb an Al Zacqharri (misspelled) safe house and destroy three others and kill 10 civilians, including children and then first claim that only terrorists were killed and then fall back to the collateral damage claim we are seen as terrorists. Ten thousand civilians killed in Iraq since we invaded, at least. This all started when 3 thousand civilians were killed here. Is Iraq justified in invading the US and pulling Bush from his spider hole? But you’re right, those people aren’t Christian, they smell funny and they don’t speak English so to hell with them.
Bob you’re right on one point (and only one), that we need to find a way to target terrorists so we don’t kill civilians, although I do think that people who deliberately slaughter civilians–Osama bin Laden–stink.
Yes Emory, it goes without saying, or it should anyway that bin laden ‘stinks’ So does Saddam. No one one either side lib or con thinks either of these douchebags (sorry for the french) deserves anything other than to be dragged behind a truck until they’re nothing but blood and bones and then fed to dogs, and then we shoot the dogs. But that doesn’t mean that we needed to invade Iraq in order to keep the homeland safe. When yer boy said the other night in the debate that diplomacy wasn’t working and Saddam would never disarm, he was so far off in space it was funny. Saddam had no arms to dis. As it turns out, the Hans Blitx was right, the weapons inspections were working. If Bush had stopped right there and just let them finish their job, I’d be voting for bush myself. Our soldiers would be a whole lot safer in a camp in Kuwait playing video games than being blown up by roadside bombs. You people would have a lot more credibility if you’s just admit the obivious. And by the way I’m right about our misguided policies creating anger and hatred and budding terrorists across the arab world everytime they see dead and mangled children on their TV screens. I’m right when I say that we’ve killed more than 3 times the civilians in Iraq as died on 911. And I’m right when I point out our cultural hubris blinds the bushies from seeing that they are creating problems they won’t be able to fix.
So, let me get this right…Bob, Sipho & karl. The US is evil. Everybody in the middle-east holy, righteous or brilliant in foreign relations. Is that what you are saying? Why didn’t they work out their problems BEFORE we went in to Iraq? Why didn’t they get the problems worked out while St. Clinton was in office. Why didn’t Pope Gore just bless that chunk of the globe called the middle-east and be done with it. You know, everything that’s wrong in the word isn’t our (American’s) fault. Terrorist spent the 8 Clinton years developing into a full-blown business, while Billy and Al just sat back and watched. They bombed the Towers during Clinton’s reign and what did the big brave Democrats do? NOTHING. As they were leaving the White House, they said, “Oh yeah, watch out for Bin Laden”, then ran off giggling like the day shift at McDonalds who left the floor buffing for the night shift. Now, you want to blame Bush for the way he’s trying to dig us out of this mess??? Just stand back and watch a MAN dig us out of the hole that your Democratic slackers buried us in!
Madam Albright says they wanted to deal with the terrorists and they “cared alot” but, darn it, they just didn’t have any “actionable intelligence”, rats!
I can’t believe you people. John Kerry’s headquarters is not in a waffle house. It’s not next to a waffle house. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s not even NEAR a waffle house! And the thing about agreeing with both sides? This is for the people who need the truth – it’s propaganda. This crap about flip-flopping has never been proven. In the debates, when Bush says stuff like “He voted for such and such this many times, then voted against it this many times” he’s just tossing around numbers. People who do their homework know this is crap. But people, hearing this out of the mouth of “W” think it’s just the greatest thing, and don’t even bother to check the facts.
I hope I’m not too late to comment on the campaign. I’ve been out smoking crack and lost track of time, you see. I’ve been bitching and screeching about the Democratic Party’s ongoing inability to steal a Presidential election. Man, just because Kerry has no plans and no vision doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t vote for him. I think his feelings would be like totally hurt if he didn’t get to be President. You Republicans are just soooo mean that you even made Al Gore and Howard Dean lose control and scream a lot, and now even Hillary Clinton is doing it! You Republicans are just a big meanie!
we’re mean. we wouldn’t have gone 2 war. only reason we did was 2 get bac @ them 4 boming our countries. all gay john kerry would have done was said, “plez dont hurt us anymore. if you bomb our country all i can say to you is TISSK SQUARED! plez dont hurt us any more.” he was gonna get rid of all of our weapons! some leader do u people think that asking nicely would stop terrorists who killed children infront of parents to gain power would have said, “ok we r sorry. your right that was mean of us. we will never do it again?” i dont think so! but hahahaha! that was funny! o god hilaryclinton is running… this country is DOOMED. who ever thinks the war was bad is crazy. sure a lot of innocents were killed but alot more would have been killed if we didnt go 2 war. infact the war is such a sucess, that the leberal loosers cant think of anything good 2 say 2 turn people against it so instaed they try 2 make all bad points and all of it isn’t true!!! poor democrats… SO PETHETIC
well Holly we are in a morally bankrupt war. If the good ole republicans wanted to impress me they would have caught Osama Bin Laden and turned Afghanistan into a glowing parking lot. Instead we have let Iraq to become vulnerable for Iran to overtake them
Shannon, we had every chance to kill Bin Laden when Clinton was president, but OF COURSE Billy-Boy was more concerned about world opinion of us than he was of our safety. Thanks for 11 Sept Clinton, you fat sax-playing tw*t!
I see alot of you don’t exactly understand the war we’re in. It’s not a force on force war anymore, never really was, human history is full of asemetrics, just this one is more developed than most.
the Problem with clinton wasn’t that he didn’t do anything, he tried, but he, and the military leadership at the time, didn’t know anything about this kind of warfare, hell the Intell Community was (and still partially is) focoused entierly on Soviet Doctrine. Ft. Huachucca, Intelligence Capital of the Armed Forces, was still teaching Analysts and Collectors how many units were in a soviet Rifle regiment rather than how to target an insergent cell.
This mistake is what lost us the battle of Mogidishu (Black Hawk Down) In all reality we didn’t loose that battle at all. we lost 18 United States Army Rangers, and Killed thousands of Somoli Hostiles. now back in the second World war, a kill ratio like that would’ve been seen as a heroic victory, worthy of statues and songs and movies, but since the samolis dragged Soldiers bodies through the ruined streets of mogidishu, and paraded their dead bodies, The American Public went into an uproar, and US Forces were made to pull out of somollia. That’s how our enemy fights.
They don’t have to win
they have to not loose, wait us out.
I believe it was Osoma himself that said Amerticans are too heart heavy, show them a few of thier dead and they’ll back away from the fight in no time.
Propaganda is heavy on both sides of the ocean, always they’re out to convince the Iraqis that we can’t protect them, and alwayse they’re trying to convince us that we can’t win, and alwayse they’re trying to convince the world that we’re heartless Nazis, that we intentionally kill civilians, and torture and rape innocent civilians.
there are isolated insidents, but those incidents have become posters for the media, which works for a buck. A story of torture makes them money so they promote it, and Al Qaeda isn’t against making money, so they help them and claim to be the victim of Us agression.
war isn’t about statistics anymore, like it or not we’re all involved now, there are no civilians, only those who understand, and those who do not. The Best Example of the most effective Insurgency in history should be better tought. During the French Occupation of algeria, the french took a 0 tolerance policy, their war machine mobalized and they hunted down, captured and tortured Algerian insurgents to what ever end, the insurgency went from thousands to less than 100 individuals faster than ever, but the Algerians began to strike at home, french cities started getting bombed, the media spred panic and fear, and so the French people forced their government to pull out when it was on the very edge of vistory.
It’s a New War, and to our enemy, there are no civilians.
