Paris(AP). The French Government has announced that, in light of the Madrid bombings, France has raised the level of its terror alert from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels under the French system are “Surrender” and “Collaborate.”

Now, I’m sure this “war on terror” is as difficult for the French as it is the rest of us. I mean, who are they going to surrender too? It’s surely not as easy a decision for them as in World War II.

I really dont know what makes people dislike the french. Thir attitude towards America after they were liberated over 50 years ago? Has it been respurred from their denouncing if the Iraq war (us spilling bottles of French wine we already payed for, america at it’s smartest…). Or maybe its because prominent figures, possibly for an overlooked reason I never mentioned, dislike the French (freedomfries, freedom toast luncheon. We are lucky that the foods themselves arent french, Then i’d fear we would really look dumb making fun of them while eating their food… as we did to Germans durring WWII)…
well, whatever, the reason, we sure like to spur up the fact that the were controlled by the Nazis about half a century ago….

Actually, we dislike the French because a large part of Saddam’s weapons had the label: “made in france”, and because they didn’t support us in Iraq because of current contracts with that aformentioned brutal dictator. It is also a well documented fact that when it comes to standing up against the enemies of democracy, the French have no balls (of course they were great at oppressing their own colonies). The French are also a secularistic society the puts secret police in christian churches, spits on the muslims right to exercise their religion peacibly (the turban law) and generally disrespects anyone who believes in a God greater than the French government. The widespread communist collaboration by the French people during the cold war also didn’t sit well with America either. And the best reason to dislike france is because they have a national ego totally out of preportion to their country’s ability to affect any significant global change.

Amen Steve! Finally someone researches the facts, and then, shockingly, sets them out on the table with credible sources! I personally feel that the French have an extremely huge ego. For example, why did Hitler hate France so much? In his AUTObiography, Mein Kampf, he says the following, “The Germans should stop licking the boots of the French and their “High culture.” By no means does it make it O.K. to invade France, kill Jews, and be a total jackass to anyone with the name Adolf to come after him, but it certainly does show French pride inflation…

Hitler hated France for the same reason All Germans at the time hated France, and even long before Hitler’s time the Germans hated France. See before the feud was between France and Britain, but after centuries of warfare over colonization among other things the two became allies so the French sought a feud with the Prussians (Medieval Germans)
After WWI the hate of France was at an all time high because of the treaty of Versailles which crippled Germany and raped it of it’s resources and resource gathering material, the bulk of which was sent to France as “payment” for starting WWI,
Of course Germany did not start WWI that can be placed on the Austro-Hungarian Empire that declared war on Serbia when a Serbian national shot the crown prince of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Russia then declared war on the Austro-Hungarian empire, Germany declared War on Russia and allied with Austria-Hungry, As did the Ottoman Empire, France sided with Russia and declared war On Germany, and England sided with the French and Also Declared War on Germany.
The reason I think they took it out on Germany was 1. The feud they had, 2. The Fact that The Ottoman Empire Completely collapsed and it’s territories were annexed by the British And the French, and that Austria-Hungry Broke up into Austria, and Hungry, and other small territories. Germany was all that was left.
But enough of my ramblings of the First World War, that’s beside the point. I don’t think that French Pride was too high after the Second World War, as the surrender of France to Germany was at Versailles; the same place Germany’s humiliation began. Second because Hitler Marched German Troops all around Paris and other cities and publicly Humiliated France during its occupation. And Steve, while France does have an awkward Military history of surrender, they really had no choice in WWII Hitler hit them where they least expected and hit them Hard and furious, with absolutely no mercy, Then French Military was utterly devastated. I think it’s the speed in which this was done due to an effective Blitz Krieg campaign, and the short amount of fighting time until France was forced to surrender, that misleads us into thinking they surrendered at the first sight at the German Army, and therefore had no balls. In fact, even during the German Occupation the French lead a large Resistance movement against the foreign occupation, that served to destabilize the infrastructure of the German War Machine in that country and working with Allied Intelligence helping Pave the way to D - Day and the Road to Berlin.
And another thing. ALL colonial powers oppressed their Colonies, that’s why Colonization failed, every one threw out their rulers, even The United states couldn’t hold on to many of it’s Colonies except a select few.
And it’s mostly The Germans that have the total Anti - Hitler thing going. Hell they took out the first 2 stanzas of their national anthem because they felt that it inspired too much Nationalism. Their Government now is not called the Forth Reich or the forth Kingdom because after the Third Reich, no one wants anything to do with the word. And Lots of German Pop culture such as Music and T.V is aimed at being Anti-Nazi.
