I’m a conservative myself and have tried for years to get into Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Maybe its bad timing, but every time I listen to either one of them all they do is take personal shots at liberals or try to dismiss their arguments saying “its really all about raising taxes, growing government and taking over power.” Why can’t Rush or Sean just debate the actual issues instead of skirting them? Makes them sound quite arrogant.

If blowhards like Rush Limbaugh REALLY wanted the Republican nominee to run against Hillary, there is one surefire way to do it: Have Republicans vote for Hillary in the open primaries that are coming up like Virginia, Wasington, Texas, Ohio, etc.
The GOP race has been decided. McCain is the nominee. Therefore, now Republicans have the chance to put their votes where their mouths are.
If they really want to face Hillary this fall they have the power to make that happen.

The attack on Rush Limbaugh by the president is retaliation on Obama’s part and a true effort to get the support of republicans. For the last few months of 2008, as the recession worsened, Limbaugh claimed that Obama’s win in the primaries in January 2008 and jump in the polls vs. McCain in mid-2008 was the reason for the “up-coming” recession. That somehow Obama’s popularity lessened consumer confidence, spending…etc and was what “will” lead us into a full-blown recession. Unfortunately, as is usual in the case of political talk show hosts (both conservative and liberal) they don’t really do a lot of research and just preach what they think up while driving home from work or in the shower. When the news came out in December 2008 that the recession had actually started in December 2007 and that the US was on the verge of recession several months before that, it made Limbaugh sound like a uniformed buffoon … again. The problem is, looking for reasons to criticize and blame all the country’s problems on Democrats is what gives people like Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and the like a gig. They can’t suddenly start supporting Obama in an effort to help him gain support from republicans to in an effort help fix the country’s problems with their radio shows. That would go against the premise of their shows and hurt their ratings and wallets. We know Limbaugh’s mind is a steel trap when it comes to his irrational hatred for all things democrat. If for some reason he decided Obama might be a good president after all, he still would never say that on his show out of fear of hurting his ratings. He’s monetarily trapped in his own hatred.

I think Mr. Limbaugh already explained the reasoning behind his statement, and you are taking it a bit out of context. Your second point is rational though. That was an ineffective statement for him to make for the conservative case on the health care debates.
Hilda, please enlighten us. I’m not being sarcastic, I truly do want to know what Rush has said or promoted that gives you that opinion. Rush says some sketchy things (like the “get the bone out of your nose” comment), but for the times I’ve listened to him, I haven’t heard anything that could be reasonably construed as “hate speech”. To be honest, he is perhaps the most reasonable talk show host of the right-wing persuasion on the air.
For example, I like listening to Mark Levin and Sean Hannity, but I HATE their tendencies to shout down callers or talk over them (respectively). Rush hardly does either of those. Also, as for his drug problem, he went into rehab or something in 2003, right? I personally will give him the benefit of the doubt, but you won’t and that’s your business.

If blowhards like Rush Limbaugh REALLY wanted the Republican nominee to run against Hillary, there is one surefire way to do it: Have Republicans vote for Hillary in the open primaries that are coming up like Virginia, Wasington, Texas, Ohio, etc.
The GOP race has been decided. McCain is the nominee. Therefore, now Republicans have the chance to put their votes where their mouths are.
If they really want to face Hillary this fall they have the power to make that happen.
So why haven’t we heard even ONE right-wing talk show host pitching this most obvious of all strategies?
The reason is obvious. It is because the very LAST thing on this earth that Limbaugh, Hanity, Coulter, et. al. really want is to face the Clinton machine again. Today is 08/13/08 and Rush made these comments:
“Don’t tell me that Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian, he is a glutton! a sloth! and America should not glorify him but we should be EMBARRASSED by him!”

Apparently Rush is calling Phelps an embarrassment because he consumes 12,000 calories per day to stay in shape and training for the Olympics. Claiming that this is a waste of non-renewable energy in a time of energy crisis.
My point:
I’m not sure if this is even the view of the “right” anymore. I am proud of Phelps’ work and his gold medals! Heck yea America is good at the Olympics. So why is Rush calling him an embarrassment? How could he sit there, with his SUV and million dollar homes that he talks about and criticize a young man who has worked his whole life for this moment?! Phelps is bringing a lot of pride to American athletics…Rush is wrong, and he should apologize for calling Michael Phelps a glutton and an embarrassment!

The attack on Rush Limbaugh by the president is retaliation on Obama’s part and a true effort to get the support of republicans. For the last few months of 2008, as the recession worsened, Limbaugh claimed that Obama’s win in the primaries in January 2008 and jump in the polls vs. McCain in mid-2008 was the reason for the “up-coming” recession. That somehow Obama’s popularity lessened consumer confidence, spending…etc and was what “will” lead us into a full-blown recession. Unfortunately, as is usual in the case of political talk show hosts (both conservative and liberal) they don’t really do a lot of research and just preach what they think up while driving home from work or in the shower. When the news came out in December 2008 that the recession had actually started in December 2007 and that the US was on the verge of recession several months before that, it made Limbaugh sound like a uniformed buffoon … again. The problem is, looking for reasons to criticize and blame all the country’s problems on Democrats is what gives people like Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity and the like a gig. They can’t suddenly start supporting Obama in an effort to help him gain support from republicans to in an effort help fix the country’s problems with their radio shows. That would go against the premise of their shows and hurt their ratings and wallets. We know Limbaugh’s mind is a steel trap when it comes to his irrational hatred for all things democrat. If for some reason he decided Obama might be a good president after all, he still would never say that on his show out of fear of hurting his ratings. He’s monetarily trapped in his own hatred.

I think Mr. Limbaugh already explained the reasoning behind his statement, and you are taking it a bit out of context. Your second point is rational though. That was an ineffective statement for him to make for the conservative case on the health care debates.
Hilda, please enlighten us. I’m not being sarcastic, I truly do want to know what Rush has said or promoted that gives you that opinion. Rush says some sketchy things (like the “get the bone out of your nose” comment), but for the times I’ve listened to him, I haven’t heard anything that could be reasonably construed as “hate speech”. To be honest, he is perhaps the most reasonable talk show host of the right-wing persuasion on the air.
For example, I like listening to Mark Levin and Sean Hannity, but I HATE their tendencies to shout down callers or talk over them (respectively). Rush hardly does either of those. Also, as for his drug problem, he went into rehab or something in 2003, right? I personally will give him the benefit of the doubt, but you won’t and that’s your business.
