THE GLOBAL TEST
by Buck Evinger
Not nearly enough attention has been paid to John Kerry’s “Global Test” theory of foreign policy. I hope he can reveal a four point plan that will make us understand his concept a little better.
The way I understand it, John Kerry says he could have built a “real coalition.” I guess that means one with France and Germany included. He says that is one of the main reasons to vote for him now. He will hold a summit and bring the world back into the fold so they can start sharing responsibility in Iraq, because it’s the worlds problem.
Well Mr. Kerry, take a look at what French President Jacques Chirac said yesterday about America.
French President Jacques Chirac warned Thursday of a “catastrophe” for global diversity if the United States’ cultural hegemony goes unchallenged.
Speaking at a French cultural center in Hanoi ahead of Friday’s opening of a summit of European and Asian leaders, Chirac said France was right to stand up for cultural and linguistic diversity.
The outspoken French president warned that the world’s different cultures could be “choked” by US values.
This, he said, would lead to a “general world sub-culture” based around the English language, which would be “a real ecological catastrophe”.
Citing Hollywood’s stranglehold over the film industry as an example, Chirac stressed that only with government assistance could countries maintain their cultural heritage.

Vietnam is a former French colony, but only around 375,000 of its 81 million people speak French. English is considered by most people a far more valuable and practical second language, particularly among businessmen.
This is the man that John Kerry wants on our side? This is the man he wants to make nice with and apologize to for stepping on their toes!
Chirac, Germany’s Schroeder and U.N. Secretary General Kofi Anan, along with others who failed to act when the slaughter of innocents demanded it have blood on their hands. They were on the take in the “Oil-For-Food” program and chose their bank accounts over justice. These people do not and should not hold the same relationship they had with us before 9/11 and before the war in Iraq.
America, as the lone great super-power of the world, stands alone. Regardless of what we do, how we do it and who we include, we will always be a target. The fundamental difference between John Kerry and George Bush is that John Kerry thinks we are wrong in what we are doing around the world and wants to change us. George Bush thinks we are right and wants to convince them to join our side.
Where do you stand?

Sad but true. And sadder still is that Kerry will probably win.

Kerry is so scary with his ideas of joining everything the “global world” (the ones who will give the test we have to pass to protect ourselves) puts before us. I don’t want them judging us in anything. Their values and ours don’t match.

Get a grip. Kerry used the term “global test” in the sense of “overall assessment,” i.e. “make sure you’re making sense before you go to war.” The idea that he meant ceding control of our defense to someone else is just GOP spin. Too much attention has been paid to one little phrase that the Bush campaign is determined to distort beyond recognition. Why can’t your guys argue about things Kerry actually stands for, instead of things they *wish* Kerry stood for?

Oh Dear! I heard what he said! It is pretty obvious he wants everyones approval before he makes a decision. Me thinks you folks better think long and hard about what he stands for.

Give us some examples. Where does Kerry stand on the war? What would he do to improve the conditions in Iraq?

I’d like to know as well.

I don’t think he could tell us what he would do even if he had some idea. He has not been “hands on” and tho he (I think- as nominee) gets daily briefings he has not been under the heat of protecting us or know the difficulty of being Commander in Chief.

He’d do everything that Bush has done, just better.
Duh.
