THEY JUST DON’T GET IT

By Buck Evinger

Rich liberals just don’t get it. They just don’t get what the war on terror means to you and me. They don’t understand why tax relief is important to people and the economy and they are completely bamboozled on why the war in Iraq is the right war at the right time and most definately in the right place. Consider some of the things Teresa Heinz Kerry said a democratic fundraiser in Arizona. (By the way, they raised $1 million dollars in one night. Yes, the party accusing Republicans of being the party of the rich raised $1 million dollars at a two hour dinner.)

Heinz Kerry said, with much disdain, that she could see the al-Qaida chief being caught before the November election.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he appeared in the next month,” said Heinz Kerry, alluding to a possible capture by United States and allied forces before election day.

Isn’t that a good thing? Of course! It’s what every American wants to see. The capture and punishment of a murderous madman in retribution for our fallen brothers and sisters. For Democrats, however, the capture of bin Laden is an unwanted and unwelcome event. But since it could happen Heinz Kerry and other liberals are laying the ground work to say, ” Yes, it’s a good thing that Osama bin Laden was captured, but those evile Republicans probably had him 6 months ago….” What an unfortunate situation to be in as a presidential candidate, to hope beyond hope that the one thing Americans would like to see happen, capturing bin Laden, to hope that it doesn’t happen and, if it does, be prepared to talk it down. They just don’t get it.

ABOUT THE WAR ON TERROR IN IRAQ

Heinz Kerry also said the war in Iraq is not part of America’s anti-terrorism efforts and that the current administration chose to create a “hotbed for terrorism” in Iraq when dictator Saddam Hussein did not pose an immediate threat.

I’m not going to rehash the links between Iraq, under Hussein, and world terror organizations, including bin Laden They are proven, but any thinking person should be able to understand the importance of the war in Iraq as it relates to the war on terror. Pay attention liberals….

What was the stated goal of bin Laden before and after 9/11. To bring terrorism to the doorstep of America. Until 9/11 terrorism was something that happened in other countries, over there. Usama bin Laden, wanted to change all that. George Bush recognized that bin Laden wanted to bring the fight to us, so in a brilliant strategic move, Bush took the war to them. First in Afghanistan, then to Iraq. And look at what has happened since then.

Our enemies, the terrorists and radical supporters of terrorism, are putting all their resources and energy into Iraq. The vast majority of the “resistence” in Iraq is from people who are not even Iraqis. What Bush did by toppling Hussein was set the terms of the war on terror. He forced the terrorists to focus on Iraq, instead our homeland. The war in Iraq has helped to negate one of terrorisms most beneficial assets, surprise.

At the same time, the war in Iraq is laying the groundwork for longterm stability in the middle east. This effort has to start somewhere, does it not? Where better than in Iraq? It is an educated, progressive nation of peoples looking for a new start and a new opportunity for a better life. It is rapidly moving in a positive direction and will soon be a beacon to which the oppressed of the middle east can look and say, “I want that life for my children”.

It is also impossible to overlook the direct benefit to the Iraqis people who are now rid of a mad dictator. Does anyone doubt that these muslims are sleeping better at night thanks to American intervention and sacrifice?

Liberals just don’t get it.

Heinz Kerry also told the audience of rich Democrats that she was embarrassed to receive tax cuts. I heard Paul Begala say this on CNN the other night. OKAY, GIVE IT BACK! You know, there is no law that says you have to accept your tax cut. Anybody who wants to can donate as much money to the government as they want to for any purpose. Defense spending, education, debt service…ANYTHING! I loved it when the Arkansas’ Govenor Mike Huckabee, in response to critics of state tax cuts, set up a donation account for people to send money to. People who felt like taxes should be higher and that the government needed more money now had a bank and an account number they could send legitimate donations to. IT’S STILL EMPTY!

If the self-righteous Heinz Kerry’s, Susan Sarandon’s and George Soros’ of the world would put their massive amounts of excess money where their mouth is, the working-stiff, middle classers like you and me wouldn’t have to pay higher taxes. Does Heinz Kerry, and her ilk, not realize that their hypocracy is so blatent?

They just don’t get it.

  1. Oh the liberals get it all right. It is us who doesn’t get them. Liberals want one thing and that is power. They have no agenda other than power and they care about nothing else. These people are smart enough to understand the benefits of capitalism and how it works. They just see nothing in it for them to extol it’s virtue’s. But it is a mistake to focus on Heinz-Kerry. She is a dingbat who is just a distraction. Don’t waste any political capital on her. That is a losing proposition.

  2. So now we see Summer Redstone, the head of Viacom, which owns CBS, is voting for George Bush. He says he is doing it for Viacom because he believes the Republicans are better for business. Ok, let me get this straight. This guy, who was the co-chairman of Edmund Muskee’s presidential campaign in 1972, who is a close friend of Ted Kennedy, who has personally given thousands of dollars to the Democratic Party and the Kerry campaign and has worked to raise millions of dollars more for the DNC and is a self described liberal democrat, this guy is now voting Republican because it is good for his company. Isn’t that admirable!
Never mind about the war in Iraq. Never mind about using aborted fetuses for stem cell research. Never mind about “tax cuts for the rich”. Who cares about the poor and the homeless and old and the uninsured? None of that matters anymore. All that is important is Viacom.
This guy bleeds Viacom blue, or whatever color they are. He is taking one for the team!
Man, I wish I owned stock in Viacom. I am going to have to run out and get me some!
You know you have to give Redstone credit for creativity. This is without a doubt the best backhand swipe at Bush of the political season. Redstone says Viacom will get the best “deal” from the Republicans, implying, of course, that Republicans make deals with big business. This is a clever take off of the old “stop me before I sin again” angle. He implies that being rich and powerful and voting self interest means voting Republican. This is brilliant stuff.
Maybe John Kerry can use this angle. He could get Ted Kennedy to say he is voting for Bush because that will help him get a permit to build a deck on the environmentally sensitive dunes at the Kennedy compound at Hyannis. Barbara Streisand could vote for Bush to get a boat dock at her ocean front properties and to keep people from looking at them. Hey, how about Ted Turner saying he wants his money back from the U.N. Voting for Bush would help him with that. But why stop there. Maybe even Dan Rather could come out for Bush. Surely that would prove once and for all there is no bias in the media. Then we would have to believe everything CBS says and would have no choice left but to vote Democratic. And of course that would help Viacom too. You have to love these guys.

  3. Wow, what a nest of morons.

Terry Heinz was alluding to perhaps the White House would magically find Bin Laden just before the election, as in, they have had locked away for a few months, or intelligence he was killed.

As far as tax relief? Your f##kin borrowing that tax relief dumbass. The government is paying interest on foreign capital to pay for itself. That $hit has to be paid back. So when Bush says tax relief, it means more money you’re going to have to pay down the road (OR receive less services in return, like medicare).

  4. “At the same time, the war in Iraq is laying the groundwork for longterm stability in the middle east. This effort has to start somewhere, does it not”

lmfao… you are entirely dillusional. Africa needs stability, should we start a war over there too? There has been’t stability in the Middle East for centuries, and all of a sudden you think this time it will happen. LMFAO!

  5. “the self-righteous Heinz Kerry’s, Susan Sarandon’s and George Soros’ of the world would put their massive amounts of excess money where their mouth is, the working-stiff, middle classers like you and me wouldn’t have to pay higher taxes.”

Yet you’re voting to keep Bush who has given the biggest tax break for people making multi-millions. STEP 1: Take head out of ass

  6. wait, while the title is meant to seem that all rich liberals are stupid, I click on the link and the only thing I read about is Kerry’s wife…

and of course liberals want to see Osama Bin Laden down, but it could be used as a cheap shot by Bush to become re-elected. While that would be sad of Bush to do, and I don’t know exactly HOW we’ve kept track of him all this time just to get him on election day :P but this isn’t every liberals views, so I dont know who “doesn’t get it” more, the small amount of liberals that actually dread the capture of osama, or you for using blind partyism to assume all liberals are like that.

And while I agree that the point of the Iraq war, its origions, weren’t meant to be for the official “war on terror”, as there are some cluse that point that the son of a president who fought Iraq and his vice who was secretary of defense while his old boss was in Iraq thought of attacking Iraq from the get-go. However, Bush, in all his assumed stupidity, didn’t go to Iraq to create terrorism…

“I’m not going to rehash the links between Iraq, under Hussein, and world terror organizations, including bin Laden They are proven, but any thinking person should be able to understand the importance of the war in Iraq as it relates to the war on terror. Pay attention liberals….”

wait… so even though the 9/11 commission has shown us that while Laden wanted a relationship with Iraq, and Iraq declined to have one, there appearantly are some facts that say this is so. Please, I want to know, what is the proof of links with Al-Quada and Iraq…

I dont’ know who doesn’t get it more… the liberals you seem to think are stupid for not talking about Al Quada and Iraq links, or the people who fails to see that there were practically none.

The point on Iraq as a good starting point I agree with… However, it’s US hand pointed leader maybe makes it look like Iraq will just be an American puppet even once they withdraw troops… and until the remove this image with the Saddam loyalists, there won’t be any stability in the middle east.

“Does anyone doubt that these muslims are sleeping better at night thanks to American intervention and sacrifice?”
I do. Many Iraqis are shaking in their boots at the car bombs tearing through the cities daily. I am glad that we removed the mad dictator, however since we were trying to go after a dictator with WMDs, wouldn’t North Korea have been a smarter target? If America is helping countries, Sudan would be a place of dire need of assistance.

lol, i’ve often thought the same thing about the Democrats sounding like they are “forced” to recieve tax cuts… I’m glad they don’t tend to bring this up too much!

and JD. interesting, i’ve always thought that the presistant tough attacks and constatn mud slinging against anyone not their party meant that they, too, only wanted power. You have to face it, the only reason WHY there are people running for president, why there are parties to begin with, are for power…

and you sound bad by pointing out to 3 people and blaming them for higher taxes for the middle class, there are many rich people that have no money to put to their mouth (:P) and they, too, are responsible for the higher taxes. If every rich person denied their pointless tax cuts, then we really would have less taxes. But since many don’t, if we remove the tax cuts then our taxes would be lower. you may not think it makes sense, but it appears to follow the logic that the creator of this post has. if rich people denied tax cuts and put money where the Heinz’s mouth is, the majority would have less. So lets get a crackin conservatives! roll back tax cuts to the rich!

  7. Earth to Karl here are some facts. The “rich” now pay less in taxes but they pay a larger share of the total taxes then they did before Bush’s tax cuts. That means the larger percentage of the tax cut went to the middle class. And those tax cuts are set to expire in the next two years. The middle class tax cuts have just been extended. The deficit is funded by government bonds but only a small percentage is owned by foriegners. The bulk of the debt is owed to U.S. investors and their agents.

  8. Just what does CBS mean when it says it’s segment is “inappropriate”. And why?

  9. I find it ironic that the admin’s post says:

“If the self-righteous Heinz Kerry’s, Susan Sarandon’s and George Soros’ of the world would put their massive amounts of excess money where their mouth is, the working-stiff, middle classers like you and me wouldn’t have to pay higher taxes.”

That looks like higher taxes for the rich in exchange for tax relief for the middle class and poor. How liberal of you.

  10. How liberal indeed, cw, to assume that only available place to put ones money is in the hand of the tax collector. If you want to help solve problems in the Middle East, how about opening a business in Israel and hiring Palestinians to work in it. If George Soros wants to make certain more Americans have access to health care, he can fund and endowment at a medical college. If Susan Sarandon would like to reach out to the homeless in America or elsewhere in the world, she could donate 10% of her income to a church with an outreach mission to the homeless. I don’t believe that all government is evil, but I doubt its ability to solve most problems. Liberals can’t imagine a solution that does not involve government.

  11. liberals, get a clue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. ChapMan, Let’s be realistic. Opening a business in Israel and hiring Palestinians is a ridiculous notion of charity. It’s too difficult and you know it. Creating a piddly fund at a medical college is not going to make a dent in the heathcare crisis our country faces. I get it…charity is an alternative but not one that can be relied upon. The other day Rush L. criticized Sally Struthers for not literally feeding the starving in Africa. There is something to liberal activism. It’s a very narrow view to think the answer is the liberal actually fixing the problem themself.

  13. Some would consider capitalism a fairly realistic alternative to socialism. Israelis, Americans, and others run businesses everyday all over the Middle East. There are Palestinians employed by Israeli companies who are working to build the security fence about which liberals and their friends at the U.N. so enjoy complaining. You’re right that it is hard to open and run a business. That’s true anywhere. But hard work can pay off in ways that are beneficial not just to the business owner, but for those who work for him or her as well as those who consume the goods and services. How many Muslims would be willing to blow themselves up if they had a Starbucks and a job providing the disposable income to buy a Frappaccino there? Of course, it’s much easier to “tax the wealthy” and hope the government somehow solves all of our problems.

  14. Unfortunately, pure capitalism doesn’t fix social problems. There needs to be a sensible mix and that’s where the American debate picks up…..just what is sensible.

  15. JD,

27% is the estimated amount of foreign-owned debt! That is high, but that’s not the point of my statement above. It’s the amount of the debt!

Perhaps you run your personal finances that way, I sure as hell don’t, and I don’t want my government doing so either. Like i said before, it HAS to be paid eventually! The ‘liberals’ always seem to at least balance the budget, which is far less than I can say of Republican dominated government even with their self-proclaimed minimal government spending (what a crock that is).

  16. Hey Liberals, do you know that the “rich” people that recieved the tax cuts that Bush put in place will pay more tax in one year, than most of you will ever make in your lifetime, its a fact. Now I can’t say that that is true to all of you, but, I bet it holds true to at least 85% of you liberals. It is also true that the people that recieved the tax cuts, employ people like you and I. They also pay 80% of all our taxes, I think they deserve a break. Why don’t you liberal’s maybe work a little harder so you can earn more. We are in a record deficit because of the stock market crash, and 9/11, and we spent money to get the economy going again. Get a Fuc#### clue all you stupid a## liberals.

ANNOY A LIBERAL: WORK HARD, SUCCEED, BE HAPPY!

    VOTE BUSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. people seem to forget a few things. Congress has been responsible for the money spending, though its true that Bush can veto, in Washington in order for him to get a few things passed he also had to give a little, it’s called blackmail and it happens all the time! Haven’t you hear about the bill that passed only because they added a museum I believe for new york within the bill? I believe other things for other states were also attached such as Hawaii. Read on it, It is something along the lines of the Highway BIll. Another thing, you seem to forget, Kerry has changed him mind so many times in the past it is dishonest for anyone to say he didn’t. Anyone that has watched this for the past year. The Democrats in the Primary bashed the President from every angle, every one of them, and if you go back and look at Kerry’s comments, they are different than what they are today. I could go on but I won’t. Just ticks me off when Bush gets blamed for being negative and bashing Kerry, when anyone who has followed for as long as I have saw with there OWN eyes what was done to him with personal attacks and he never said a word for over a year. That’s class. That’s resolve. That’s a leader. That’s a PRESIDENT.

  18. my comment above, forgot to leave my email for the mean replies i am sure i’ll get…lol Sorry for the typo’s kind of tired. Later

  19. Actually, I think I’ll write some more. Who says rich people should pay more? They should pay there share. I am far far from being rich but I certainly don’t think it’s fair to penalize someone just because they have more money. That just plain robbery. Do you really think Kerry is going to hurt from taxing himself and his wife and friends more? His wife is B I L L I O N A I R E!!!! Let’s get real.

  20. It is so nice to have your ludicrous comments archived so you can look back and re-examine your mistakes. It is hard to believe that given the rich information resources that are available now that so many of you Bushies so completely failed to grasp the disasters that Bush and his crew perpetrated. I had almost given up on the zombie conservatives as irretrievably ignorant. But now that the tide of public opinion is turning overwhelmingly against Bush my faith is starting to be restored. To my liberal friends who visit this site – you have proven that you are better informed and capable of making persuasive cases even in a hostile environment such as this. Bless you all for your commitment to the art of persuasion and the improvement of the human condition for all humankind.
