TORTURE: A Weapon of War?
My heart sank when I saw the first news accounts of American and coalition soldiers accused of torture. I can’t fault CBS or any news organization for running it, but I didn’t want to hear what I was hearing. I was sad and sickened. How could my fellow Americans disgrace our country, disgrace me, by committing such vile acts? BUT…..
….upon further reflection, I’m starting to think it may not have been such a bad thing after all. Consider the facts. All that we know so far is that there are pictures of what appear to be torture taking place. We don’t have any evidence of actual serious pain, maiming or death being caused by our soldiers. If we do discover that any of those things took place, then I’m all for inflicting serious retribution on the soldiers who did it, but there is possible upside.
The conventional wisdom is that this will reverberate throughout the “Arab Street” and cause even more hatred against the United States. How? When our enemies stated goal is to wipe us off the face of the planet, how can we make it worse? So I’m not overly concerned about the negative impact this will have on America’s stature on the Arab Street.
The potential upside is it may actually improve our stature on the Arab Street and gain us new respect. Remember the images of those charred bodies being drug through the street and hung from a bridge? That’s the kind of people we’re dealing with. They don’t think like you and me and if you’re going to defeat an enemy, you have to understand your enemy. Remember after Somalia when Usama bin Laden said American soldiers were “paper tigers”, which would tuck tail and run from a good fight. Well guess what the word on the Arab Street is now. If you burn American bodies and drag them through street, we’ll chain your ass to a wall and hook your balls up to a car battery.
Those little kids in Fallujah were stomping on the head of a dead man, who might have been burned alive. Those little kids, who looked to be 9 maybe 10 years old, danced with glee in the brain matter of people who were there protecting deliveries of food shipments. All the while, their parents were there, helping and encouraging them to, ” show those weak American’s how we do things in Fallujah.” Well guess what? They’re thinking that maybe American’s aren’t paper tigers. Maybe American’s are going to start fighting fire with fire.
I heard an “Arab expert” commenting on the current mess in Iraq recently. He said that the United States would make a big mistake if they cracked down to hard on the areas of unrest because, ” the tradition in those villages is and eye for an eye.” I know it is wrong to torture innocent people, or even guilty people, but if an eye for an eye is the only thing your enemy understands, you better be ready to poke a few eyeballs.

Touché Good for you. I was hoping I wouldn’t have to be the first to say that! I have spent the past couple of days telling people that if those scum in Iraq wanna see just what kind of paper-tigers our American/coalition soldiers are, get the cameras and politicians out of the way. “You guys wanna play rough? Ok, let’s play rough”. There will be a bigger deal made of the coalition soldier’s toying abuse than there was of the animalistic torture of the Americans a few weeks ago, just watch. Back off and let our military boys do what’s gotta be done. You were right on, “Fight fire with fire”!

Apparently, the leftist hand-wringers aren’t outraged when Americans are killed, their bodies dragged through the streets, burned, and then hung from a bridge, but put a panty on an Iraqi prisoners head? THE SHAME OF A NATION!
