TWO AMERICAS?
By Buck Evinger
John Edwards campaign rhetoric about “two Americas” is a study in contradiction and hypocrisy. The premise of his pitch is that George Bush is dividing the country by lining the pockets of the rich and socking it to the poor. Bush and all those rich people must be stopped and punished.
First, the contradictions.
The Bush tax cuts were about the fairest way possible to cut taxes. From a pure percentage standpoint, the tax cuts were pretty much equal, no matter what tax bracket you were in. Doesn’t it make sense to cut everyone’s taxes 10%, instead of 10% for you, 15% for me and 19% for the other guy?
What about the middle class? Two America’s implies that you’re either rich or poor. You’re either getting screwed or you’re doing the screwing. Leave it to a Democrat to try and tell a middle class citizen like me that I’m really poor. And what is Edwards offering me for my vote? Not tools and incentives to help me get rich…..just payback to those that have money, regardless of how they got it. That whole notion leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I want to be one of those upper class evil people. I want work hard and make a lot of money. Don’t you? So what’s my incentive?
Now the hypocrisy.
John Edwards message is this. You’re poor. Rich people, with the help of George Bush, are the reason you’re poor. Let’s get ‘em! Who is dividing the country? The president who gives everyone an equal tax cut and promotes policies that make it easier for everyone to acquire wealth and success, or the candidate who says let’s make our lives easier by taking what we can from the other guy. Please.
Speaking of hypocrisy….John Edwards, the trail lawyer, has made millions off of what? Yes that is correct, dividing classes of people. Edwards is a multi-millionaire because he’s been successful at pitting labor against management, consumers against the manufacturers, sick people against hospitals and the list goes on.
For someone who’s so concerned about dividing America, Edwards sure seems to be good at it.

lol! You actually make it sound like Edwards divides america and Bush doesn’t. I dont understand this “For someone who’s so concerned about dividing America, Edwards sure seems to be good at it.” He’s just “diversifying it”, as you’ve proclaimed Bush is doing

cutting my taxes 10% means a lot to me, a whole lot. Cutting taxes of the ultra rich 10% means absolutely nothing to them as many (all) of them can afford smart lawyers (because they are rich) that help them avoid these taxes. You have no idea of what you are talking about. By your reasoning I guess we should kill all lawyers as all they do is divide people.

diverification is not the key to America’s success…
If anyone ever made a building’s frame with inconsistencies of metal, some metals stroger than the other or made up of different substances all together, the building would never get off the ground. You would have a pile of demented rubble. God’s blessing on his chosen people has made america great.
