Vive la difference!
How do you tell the difference between Democrats, Republicans, and Southerners? Read the following:
You’re walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a Glock 40, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family.
What do you do?
Democrat Answer:
Well, that’s not enough information to answer the question. Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the Glock have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children?
Is it possible he’d be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 911?Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have a paint and weed day, and make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus.
Republican Answer: BANG!
Southerner’s Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click….(sounds of reloading). BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click.

Death by gun in the Freeest Country on earth: 11,000+ this joke is sick with unconsciousness.

Lol, i like your democrat stereotype. Here’s my “ant-republican” twisted version.
Democrat: BANG
Republican: Kills his family first so that way the criminal can’t, disrupting the criminal’s plot. Then, he shoots himself because he is George W. Bush and he is stupid
Southerner: Shoots the man hundreds of times.
See, you republicans are sitting there thinking “what a moron”. Thats what I thought when i read your version above. My version is so inaccurate it’s not funny, just like your version above.
Britt Says: September 5th, 2004 at 6:59 am
Hey Gerald Landrum…you know why our death by gun rate is high? Because so many people wanna live here! And Zoot Potatoe i didnt think “what a moron” when i read your version…I thought “way too much time on his hands…”
Stephen Huck Says: September 23rd, 2004 at 3:40 am
Actually the criminal death rate by guns in the United States is 30,000– of course, 17,000 of those are suicides. Of course, 2 million people a year are save theirs or their families lives through the use of a gun… but that a statistic that doesn’t fit the liberal agenda. See, your 150 times more likely to have your life (or you families life) saved by a gun then be killed by one. I like those odds.
bob Says: October 4th, 2004 at 8:28 pm
Huck,
you really should find another source for your gun stats, Heston has alhzemiers. but then, if you believe that 2 million stat, maybe he got it from you.

First off this is hillarous.
Second the people in here that are offended might be funnier.
Third for those of you that still believe gun control still works, I’d like to laugh at you but it’s just sad. Even your Pres candidate is running away from that as fast as he can.
bonniem Says: October 22nd, 2004 at 5:43 pm
The only people gun control keeps from getting a gun are the Honest. The criminals have ways of getting the guns. Criminals don’t follow the law. DUH! By the way, I have heard from some “real hunters” that Kerry doesn’t even hold the gun correctly when walking along with it.
t.l. kiser Says: October 23rd, 2004 at 6:15 pm
So Mr. Landrum, what you are saying is that you would allow your fammily to be hacked to death because this couldn’t possibly happen to you, right? You’re funnier than the joke and it’s sad that your family means so little to you.
t.l. kiser Says: October 23rd, 2004 at 6:17 pm
Bob, Huck’s stats were correct. You’re the fool in this case. Try looking things up before you dispute them.

I am so tired of hearing ignorant people call George Bush stupid! They can’t make an argument on facts so the just generalize. Take a look at the schools he graduated from. Pardon me, from whence he graduated! Is that proper. Oh, tho’ I suppose he graduated from Yale because he was a Bush! Give it a rest! If you have a particular disagreement with him - state it! Don’t be stupid! He was smart enough to be elected to Governor of Texas and President of the U. S. and if you think he didn’t win it fair and square you don’t know what you are talking about. As many times as the votes in Fl. was counted and by 3rd parties he certainly won. If you don’t like the Electoral College, then You do something about it. And if the people in Fl. or anywhere can’t punch a hole next to their candidate, then maybe they should go back to school to learn. The story that some of the candidates did not have a punch does not mean that it was wrong. Often times, if I don’t know which candidate I prefer in an election, I simply skip that vote. It is not because of ignorance, it is because I am not convinced either one is better for the job. George Bush is not stupid as much as you and Dan Rather would like us to think. Kinda like the Pot calling the Kettle black.
Cinnamon Says: October 23rd, 2004 at 7:20 pm
Yes. This President Bush managed to graduate from Yale only because he is a “Bush”. Did you ever hear anything about his impressive academic record? I’m sure you did not: he did not have one. He cannot even talk straight, though that is partly due to the alcoholic brain damage. It does not take much intelligencce to be elected governor of Texas. And, yes, this Bush, little Mr. “W”, did not win the presidency fair and square. He did not win it at all. He is stupid. That is why Cheney and others have been running the show for his entire. They have to tell him minute by minute what to say and what to do. Otherwise he would be lost, clueless. His ignorance shames us in front of our own nation and in front of the world. The USA has never before had a president so unqualified. The only other instance of a president being so out of it was when President Wilson was incapacitated and his wife was overseeing everything. What is wrong with the Repuclican Party that it could not find someone with a live brain cell to his name to run for the highest office in the land last time, instead of this lummox? Even his parents were shocked that he won the last election. One could tell by their facial expressions when the results were coming in that they never expected him to make it. If for some reason it was necessary to run a Bush for president four years ago, the Republicans would have done better to run his brother, the Florida governor. That fellow presents himself better than “W” does and is demonstrably smart — smart enough to take questionable to measures to confound and virtually disable the election process in his state. The whole mess makes me ashamed to be a Republican.
Lizzie Says: October 23rd, 2004 at 7:47 pm
Cinnamon, I feel very sorry for you. You must be very angry to come up with all of that babble. You put down our President, the state of Texas and the Republican Party. You have no basis for your statements. But you obviously have your own set of problems. I feel sorry for you.

In fact I am not impressed with any of Kerrys records.Perhaps you should leave the Republican Party since you are so embarrassed about it. Seems you have plenty of complaints and I just wonder what you might be doing to rectify some of these problems. What? Just complaints and no solutions? I consider myself independent and vote for the candidate and not the party. I am voting for Bush! As matter of fact- already have- voted early .

Einstein didn’t bother to start speaking until he was 5 years old - everyone thought he was retarded, but obviously they were mistaken. Oh, and, Cinnamon, I’m thinking you are likely not a Republican at all.
Brian George Says: October 26th, 2004 at 4:47 pm
Back to the subject at hand. Following the logic of the left we should also ban cars, trucks, and motorcycles. What is the link between these two groups of items you may ask? Simply this, 99.999% of the the time a gun requires the active employment by a human being. (Yes, there are instances of guns discharging rounds due to some external force or event not controlled by a person. But they are very rare.) Cars, trucks, ans motorcycles are also under the control of a person. (And it is possible for a vehicle moving withouth the control of a person, but just as above the instances are few and far between.) Since guns kill people (not the people using the guns doing the killing) and cars kill people (also under the control of a person), ergo we must also ban cars, trucks, or any vehicle controlled by a person for that matter. The equation is simple. Person + tool = death then said tool must be banned. By that definition, we are going to lose a lot of things.
The point of all this is simple. Don’t blame the tool for how it was used. Blame the person who make the conscious decision to use it that way. After all why does a hammer hit a nail? Because someone decided to he needed a nail in a board and found a tool to complete the job.
JD Says: October 26th, 2004 at 4:58 pm
Brian George: Don’t you get it. They do want to ban cars and trucks, starting with SUV’s. Then they will move on to motorcycles and snowmobiles (Yellowstone) and the like. First things first when saving the world from man.
Brian George Says: October 26th, 2004 at 5:08 pm
I understand perfectly well what the scope of their argument is. But until everyone sees and understands the absurdity of the liberal’s logic, and just how far they are going to take it, then and only then will people realize they must be stopped now before we all end up in a world just like in Demolition Man. More government is not the first answer to any question, it should always be the last resort.
Serbian National Says: October 26th, 2004 at 5:16 pm
You see, Brian George, the only thing we are attempting to do with gun safety is to make them SAFER.
Using your analogy, guess what we’re trying to do with cars as well? And what we have been doing, I might add.
Brian George Says: October 26th, 2004 at 5:27 pm
You are not trying to make guns safer, you are trying to ban them all together. To make a gun safer you must make the operator act in a safer manner. The current safety features on guns are quite adequate for guns safety, if properly employed. To use my analogy from above, I can make a hammer safe or unsafe. It is ALL in how I choose to use it. The tool I actually employ is irrelevant. A hammer, a rock, a stick, a gun, someone can use each tool to kill someone. The best way to make all these items safer is instill in each person a set of morals that will allow them to act in a responsible manner using whichever tool they choose. I hate to use the OLD cliche but I suppose I must. Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
Serbian National Says: October 26th, 2004 at 6:41 pm
I am for making guns safer. People in America don’t really react well to change that happens quickly, and that includes the criminals. Banning guns would be a foolhardy move. If you, however, make it so that mandatory background checks for everyone buying a gun are in place, and crack down on illegal gun dealers, and get rid of cop-killers, then you would be making progress.
Serbian National Says: October 26th, 2004 at 6:41 pm
Those are only three ways to do it, there are many more. I, however, just cut my pointer finger (I don’t know how) and it has become extremely difficult to type.
JD Says: October 26th, 2004 at 7:31 pm
Serbian: We already have mandatory background checks and “cop killer” bullets have never killed any cops. The real problem is not more laws it is more enforcement.

“I’d rather be judged by 12, than carried by six!”
OR just as good, “When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.”
Did you know that a gun can be made from the simple products you can get at any hardware store? Kind of crude, but still a projectile is a projectile. I watched a blacksmith one time in North Carolina build what was an indescribable but identifiable duplicate to a 38 special, after he read up on gun schematics diagrams from the web and local library. Total time to read and make notes, 3 weeks. Total time to construct, 3 days. Total cost, 48 bucks. Time to ban the libraries and web, along with Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”
My point is without trying to start a bicker fest is, people will kill people until the end of time just like animals devise poisons and sheer muscle with razor sharp fangs to defend themselves and capture food. And if guns are outlawed, what do we do about the future geeks and their perfected stream lasers in handheld or light saber form? Ban laser technology, we will save more lives this way than the ones that need it for precise operations on their anatomical structure.
Bush is a moron even though I voted for him against Kerry. And I’d rather have Clinton back for four more than have Kerry for one. Even though that would suck, it was funny watching Clinton teach the world BS, like oral sex is not sex, and make them believe it. (These were not really true liberals believing his crap, just uneducated street morons that fed his votes to him.) What ever happened to guys like Reagan? Damn, I must be getting old! Yep, I posted way late on this subject! Think I’ll get a beer now, not a Zima.
And the UK and nations listed find alternatives to guns. They kill each other with their bare hands, knives, poisons, etc. Along with their satire and televised programming.

I would like to comment on both issues that have been brought up. FIRST of all, merely because Bush is not a great speaker does not mean he is stupid, dumb, or retarded. Mr Kerry might have given good speeches, but they were full of contradictions and told of a magical plan that was never revealed. It just proves you libs only pay attention to things that sound cool. If you don’t like the president, fine; but don’t make fun of him. One thing my father learned quick in the Marine Corps (let’s hear an OORAH from all of you in dress blues!) was that if he didn’t like a particular superior, he was to salute the rank, not the person.
SECOND, guns have been demonized so much that people believe they can spring to life and kill all by themselves. I agree with brad that almost anything can be used as a killing instrument, not just guns. Why, if everyone had a gun, took safety classes, and practiced with it regularly, we’d be alot safer. Most of the gangbanger kids who are responsible for drive-by shootings pobably have never really learned about guns and therefore think it is cool to go shoot up neighborhoods. When I was a young child, my father took me out to shoot a shotgun for the first time. When felt the powerful kick and loud noise it made, I was scared straight and NEVER touched a gun unless he was around. GIVE GUNS A CHANCE!

I think we need to quit attacking the men that try protecting their families and attack the people abusing there rights as americans, aka. criminals.
Liberals never take things into consideration. to fully understand you have to put yourself in the situation. If you, your wife and your precious kids were together and a man threatened your family witrh a gun. Would you rather have the death of all 3+ of your family or the death of one criminal.

It’s simple. Bush is the man. I feel sorry for all of you who can’t see that. It makes me wonder what else in life you’re missing out on just because you eat up whatever the media feeds you instead of forming your own opinions based on the cold hard facts. I hate to break it to all of you but the USA is doing better than it ever has before. As for gun control, it’s like putting a declawed cat in a cage with a bunch of pit bulls. I grew up in a suburb of Atlanta, GA - Kennesaw to be exact, where it is law that every household MUST OWN A GUN. Crime plummetted, almost to nonexistent. Gun control is for the birds. It’d be the quickest way for this nation to self destruct.
nutslikebush Says: July 11th, 2007 at 12:50 pm
That’s right Julie. With 30,000 American citizens being killed in gun violence every year in the US, how could anyone think there is a gun problem. And by owning one, you quadruple the chances that you will be killed by a gun. Cool huh? The real problem is that Americans suck at math.
nutslikebush Says: July 11th, 2007 at 12:59 pm
If you actually look up the crime statistics on Kinnesaw, they aren’t that impressive. I lived in a town in Canada where you can own a gun, but it has to be a hunting rifle or shot gun, but few people do. The town is more than 7 times larger in population than Kinnesaw and the total number of crimes committed each year is still much lower than in Kinnesaw. Is it because they don’t have a lot of guns there? Many towns with strict gun laws have much lower crime rates than Kinnesaw. So, Julie, I think your argument is not well supported by the facts.

The economy is great. I know my personal economy is freaking fantastic! People are making more money than ever and paying less in taxes than ever! Man oh man! We are in bad shape aren’t we democrats? Life is good. For those out there that are focused on the problems, just stay miserable! For me, I’ll keep smiling, making money, enjoying my freedoms, building businesses, creating jobs and feeling sorry for all the unfortunate Communist/Democrats who would rather sit around letting their government support them. Like I said, life is good! Thank you President Bush for your part in continuing to make America the greatest country on earth!

Ok, ok. Here’s a word of advice, when looking up stats on a certain city, try real hard to actually spell it right. Kennesaw, not Kinnesaw. Hell, I’ll save you the trouble and paste the info right here:
“In March 1982, 25 years ago, the small town of Kennesaw – responding to a handgun ban in Morton Grove, Ill. – unanimously passed an ordinance requiring each head of household to own and maintain a gun. Since then, despite dire predictions of “Wild West” showdowns and increased violence and accidents, not a single resident has been involved in a fatal shooting – as a victim, attacker or defender.
The crime rate initially plummeted for several years after the passage of the ordinance, with the 2005 per capita crime rate actually significantly lower than it was in 1981, the year before passage of the law.
Prior to enactment of the law, Kennesaw had a population of just 5,242 but a crime rate significantly higher (4,332 per 100,000) than the national average (3,899 per 100,000). The latest statistics available – for the year 2005 – show the rate at 2,027 per 100,000. Meanwhile, the population has skyrocketed to 28,189.”
That was taken from an article on worldnetdaily.com, published on April 19th, 2007. No, crime rate isn’t completely down but it’s a hell of a lot better, wouldn’t you say?
And what is this crap about legalized abortion and the KKK? I think, shannon, that you said “Perhaps the crime rate dropped due to legalized abortion, I mean kids were no longer having to grow up in houses that did not want them, so you did not have as many children running around at their height of crime years because they simply were not on this planet”. I don’t understand. Not, that I support abortion, because I don’t, but, how is decreased crime due to nonexsistent people a bad thing? Maybe you care to elaborate on that one? Now, if you’ll excuse me, since an ignorant someone has assumed that I’m part of the KKK since I’m from the south, maybe I should go find out where my local chapter meets.

Wow Jason in reference to spelling perhaps you should have said morale instead of moral! No one said it was a bad thing Julie that abortion was legalized I was simply saying that you should research that possibility instead of assuming that your gun law was to take credit for that.

Jason, Clinton had great intelligence on Osama Bin Laden and an imminent al-Queda attack on America using airplanes. But the Bush administration threw it to lower level employees and wasn’t even looked at by upper level employees until a few weeks before September 11. It seems to be the right-wing mantra, blame Clinton. Clinton was impeached for the same offense that Libby was commuted for.
So being rich trumps all of the corruption running rampant throughout the Bush Administration? Is that the rationale the right uses?
I think Jason’s blissful ignorance is clouding reality because Bush started with a strong nation and led it to be seen as weaker by foreign nations and has emboldened the terrorists.

Actually I did spell Kennesaw correctly when I looked it up. When I typed it in the LAL site, however, my browser spell checker didn’t recognize it and I, stupidly, accepted its suggestion. So, sorry, you are wrong in your assumption that I looked up the stats for the wrong city. Now you guys are comparing Kennesaw to other US cities. As you know, the US is one of the most violent developed countries on Earth. So it is difficult to interpret crime statistics against a background of such high violence levels. Compared to cities in countries with reasonable weapons laws, like Canada, Finland, Britain, Spain, France, Denmark, Japan, Hong Kong, Greece, Switzerland, Indonesia, Norway, Ireland etc…. you will see that it is possible to have very low crime rates even though the people don’t own guns. If owning a gun is the only way to lower crime rates, how do you explain the low crime rates in countries that have strict gun control laws? I look forward to hearing your explanations. And thanks for your kind remarks in all of your posts. Right back at ‘cha.

Do you think that the guns laws explain both the lower crime rate in Kennesaw and its rapid growth, or just the crime rate? It is correlated with both. But did it cause either? No way of knowing from the data available, just speculation.
nutslikebush Says: July 12th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Isn’t it interesting that the US crime rate is 400-500% higher than that of Greece, Switzerland, and Ireland (to name just a few), all of which have restrictive gun laws. According to Julie, this is impossible! Only guns can reduce crime, if I understand her original argument.
nutslikebush Says: July 12th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Actually, I just did some research and found that Switzerland does permit people to carry guns and it is chock full of them. Mostly rifles and assault weapons - so that scores against my previous point a bit.
