BLOGGERS COMMENT POSTERS…..PLEASE READ THIS

I am writing this for all of the people who regularly post here on this web site, either as a blogger or in the comment section. I am toying with the idea of changing things up a bit and I would like your comments and feedback. You can post your thoughts online or send me an email.

This site was originally designed to focus on humor about the left, but has evolved into a pretty good debate site. That is because of you. Most conservatives and liberals who post on this site are passionate, intelligent and love a good fight! With that being the case, I’d like to keep the humor going, but encourage the debate even more. I think its a good thing and I’d like to see it get even better.

The second issue prompting the redesign is internet fraud. You probably notice that if you post a comment, it can take quite a while for it to appear online. That is becasue I, or the webmaster, have to manually approve each comment. The reason for that is because of “spam postings”. These fake comments are actually an effort on the part of dishonest people to enhance links their websites, generate click through traffic and make money. There are software systems that automatically search out comment sections on sites and post. We routinely delete those.

With all that being said, what I would like to do is divide our main page into two sections, left and right. Yes, liberals would post on the left and conservatives on the right. This would then become a true blog site, in that only those people pre-approved to post, could post. Eveything would look more like the center page articles, instead of just the comments section.

That would eliminate the spam blogging problem and give the people truly interested in debating topics an opportunity to post more prominently.

Anyway, it’s pointless unless you want to participate. You can let me know via email or post your comment on the comment section.

Thanks for all that you’ve done to improve this site. I look forward to making it even better.

  1. Buck, I like your idea and think that it has the potential to be a real hit. Who wants to just talk to people who already think like they do anyway? One problem that I have with the concept as you presented it is that I would feel uncomfortable posting as either a liberal or conservative. I am wedded to neither and reserve the right to think through each issue independently and change my mind when I find out that I am wrong.

  2. SO this would mean we could all participate and read everything, and wouldn’t have to click on articles to go there? It would essentially be on the screen all the time for all to see? Works for me.

  3. Really good ideas, Buck. What would be the criteria to decide ‘left’ and ‘right’, and who(m) would catagorize each? I believe a possible issue is that many Republicans lately have taken highly liberal stances on issues such as the Shiavo case, the USA PATRIOT Act, censorship, etc. and many Democrats have taken highly conservative stances on said issues. How would one address this? Just post in the appropriate column (left or right), or would the user just post in their predetermined column regardless of whether they take a conservative or liberal stance on a particular issue? I wish more political sites would follow the example you lead in not censoring people based on their stance and also your determination to create the most debate-friendly format possible.

  4. Great Idea Buck, sign me up. Conservative. Happy member of the VRWC.

  5. I’m afraid there is a difference between being conservative and right-wing, you partisan hacks.

  6. This is a great idea, I am new here but I like it. I got a blog for almost a year and went nowhere. This is really nice though. I think I will post you on my website, hope it’s ok.

  7. “I’m afraid there is a difference between being conservative and right-wing, you partisan hacks.”

Hmm, well I guess I cant debate that. Of course, calling someone a party hack is a lot like calling someone intolerant. Once you do it, you also label yourself as the same. Kinda like the old school kid cry of “it takes one to know one.”

  8. You noticed that too, Paul?

  9. silly liberal!

  10. Wow, at first I thought you were going to stop all the fun. Now I am really impressed with you.

I think this idea is wonderful, only problem what if someone is half conservative, half liberal, and then has another half which is who knows what. This is my makeup.
I am not 100% anything except I am 100% woman and 100% American.
Second, I already had figured out that is why the comments took a bit to show up, and this is good as who knows what someone might just decide to write. Along with protecting us and this wonderful one of a kind site.

    Thanks

  11. Paul; Not quite clear on your logic.
Hmm, well I guess I cant debate that.
Sure you can. You could debate whether there is a difference between being a ‘right-winger’ and a ‘conservative.’ It would be difficult to prove, but you could debate it. Obviously, people debate things difficult (even impossible) to prove all the time. So, feel free.
Of course, calling someone a party hack is a lot like calling someone intolerant.
How so? Being intolerant is an adjective, and Webster defines it as “unable or unwilling to endure.” ‘Partisan hack’ was used to describe the fascist party line measures people take in the United States, Democrats and Republicans alike (although there is little significant difference between the Democratic Party and Repubican Party today, many like to believe their side is significantly different from the ‘opposite’ ideology).
Once you do it, you also label yourself as the same. Kinda like the old school kid cry of “it takes one to know one.”
Really, tell me how that works? Saying someone pledges allegiance to a political party means I automatically pledge allegiance to a political party, also? I’m not following your line of thinking.

  12. One more comment Buck
Just do not try to classify everyone into tight little labels, see some of us are just concerned Americans, this does not mean we are Liberals to be Laughed at nor does it mean we are anti American, just the opposite.
So you idea is great but do not put up the walls to seperate what you think are Liberals from Republicians, see I am a Republican, but one with a mind of my own.
Should you decide to put up the walls, well which side does an American stand on, the right or the left or could they be in the middle?
How about on the very top looking down.
I like the last line, on the top

  13. A child molestor out on parole threated my son a year ago and they dropped the charges against him.
can you help me? This man belong behind bars.
    Please, can you help me?

  14. Laura, I don’t know where you live, but there has to be someone there locally to help, particularly after all of the terrible things that have happened lately at the hands of child molestors. Find out why the police dropped the charges, and if they are going to watch this person. You might be able to get some help from some of the high profile people who are strongly against this type of thing.Mr. Lunsford in Florida is becoming very active in getting laws passed to help prevent these monsters from hurting our children. Can’t think of the name now of the person in Ca.who’s daughter was killed, and he is very active. I certainly hope you can find someone who will take this up and follow it thru.

  15. I think its a good idea but you should have a third section for the “I don’t care I just want to make a joke people”… after all this site is a lot about humor.
