Liberal Experts

Liberal Experts

The things most Liberal’s
Think they’re experts on,
Are usually the things,
They’ve never done.
While their rhetoric’s raucous,
Their record is poor
In suiting up for the game,
Or volunteering for war.
It’s so easy to think
You’re calling it right,
When you’re not on the field,
Or involved in the fight;
To piously protest
The spilling of blood,
While not one drop of yours
Lies mixed with the mud.

Oh yes it’s so easy
To be scolding and bold,
When you’ve not felt the fear
Makes the blood run ice cold.
Standing safe on the sidelines,
Do you never feel shame,
When you’re bawling at us
That we’re blowing the game?
Till you’ve carried the rifle,
Till you’ve handled the ball,
Just sit down and shut up
And let us make the call.
To you few Liberal warriors,
Who truly give us your best,
We wish your hearts and cojones
Were shared by the rest.

  1. I agree, let’s let these veterans make the call on the Iraq invasion. Russ, you are weaker than you think.

  2. Julian, I thought I was bad, but you literally have something to say about everything don’t you? Is there any topic that you aren’t an “expert” on?? I don’t know why we even bother to have a President and a Congress and advisors and inspectors and representatives and such…why not just let Julian make all our decisions for us? He obviously knows much more than any ten of us combined, and apparently could run this country and the world so much better than our current leaders if only we would let him!! Long live Julian, the voice of reason in a poorly educated, ignorant, misguided world (that’s the one that all the REST of us mere mortals inhabit folks)!!

  3. When someone is in the U.S. military, are they serving their country–everyone included–or just the people that share their political views? I find it strange that some anti-war soldiers feel they’re being betrayed by their countrymen who disagree; and similarly, pro-war soldiers feel they’re being betrayed by their countrymen who disagree, also. Does a soldier serve their country as a soldier or politician? Moreover, how logical is it to blame the pawns for the chessmaster’s decisions?

  4. K.Marx, your point is well-taken.

  5. Nice words, but untrue
I don’t know if I am considered a Liberal but I am for sure not a Radical Republican
I believe in that which we are fighting for and will be going there myself very soon. Yes, I did not think I would be called back up but guess this girl is still full of fight.
Before you put all Liberal Thinking Americans into one little bag, it may be wise to ask some of us what it is we are so Liberal about.
For me it is protecting the Basic Freedoms of all Americans, You, me and everyone else. I am not against my government, I have never protested a war, never put down my country to others. If being concerned about our basic rights that are guaranteed by the Bill of Rights and there rapid destruction is being a Liberal, well more Americans should change their political views.
Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, or how about the one that implies A man’s Home is His Castle, where did that go?
Yep, it went away with The Act, yes I wrote that one.
I believe in America, I believe in the Bill of Rights that Our Forefathers created and I believe they did so with much thought and with the protection of all Americans then and now and in the future.
You as a fighting man in Iraq of all people deserve these rights, You also deserve the Governments care and protection when you come back home. As does your family. You do not deserve to come home to a VA Medical Hospital that will turn you away and also turn away your family due to a governments disregard to increasing the funding for medical for the VA.
I send you my love, I send you my prayers, I think of you and all the others there with you. I know you are the Best of the BEST and this is what I am counting on when I get there and join you in this conflict

  6. Oops, I wrote Iraq, but you are a Vietnam Vetern,
even more important, as so is my husband
He is 100% disabled, I am also a Vietnam Widow, so I know about the blood running up and down the spine, I know about the fear
I also know that the Vietnam Veterns are yes being treated a bit better today, but how long did that take, how many lives were wasted, how much sorrow, and did it take the war in Iraq to finally give some respect to those like you?
What in Gods Name is wrong with so many.
You and others like you went to Vietnam to serve your country, and what did you get when you came home?
How mahy years were you afraid to say you were a Vietnam Vet, how did you feel about those who skipped to Canada and then received the Forgiveness of your Government, while your wounds either on the inside or the outside had yet healed.
Sorry for standing on my soap box, but see you hit a very very sensitive spot with this part Liberal, Part Republican and 100% American Girl

  7. Suzanne, first of all thank you for all that you have given to your country and are prepared to give again. I find that totally admirable and salute you for your service.

Did you not read the last four lines of the poem?

    “To you few Liberal warriors,
Who truly give us your best,
We wish your hearts and cojones
    Were shared by the rest.”

I do not condemn all Liberals, just those so far on the left they are blinded to the true goodness of their country. Also, I do not condemn all liberal beliefs; I am only moderately conservative myself and am glad we have a liberal bloc in America to provide balance in our thinking.

That being said, I should think that with the retrospect of forty years, you would be able to see the key role that a carping, condemning media played in America disgracefully pulling out of Vietnam and abandoning millions to death and torture. It is a stain on our nation’s history and the ink was eagerly provided by the American media parroting the views of the extreme Left.

Walter Cronkite and his ilk portrayed the Tet Offensive as a massive victory for the enemy when in fact it was precisely the opposite. But the American public dutifully believed the avuncular Cronkite instead of their own military. It was only after Cronkite’s untrue assertion that America as a whole turned against the war.

It is this kind of negative misreporting on the war in Iraq by our current liberal media that is the target of my poem. If you read the accounts of events in Iraq posted on the Internet by the troops who are there, you find a far different scene than the gloom and doom being fostered upon the American public by mainstream media.

Again, I salute you for your service. You are one of those Liberal Warriors I address in the last four lines.

(At least with regard to the heart part)

  8. Hi Russ
    Thanks
Actually I am not a Liberal, I am an American.
That is the problem. See, I believe in the Bill of Rights, I believe in the principles this country was founded upon.
If that make me a Liberal so be it.
As I would rather be as I am than one of the Religious Right.
Now as I have a very bad habit of speed reading, I am coping your comment into a word doc so I can reread. I will then come back and say more.
Is it that most Liberals do not fight for their country? Was those who went across the border into Canads during the VietNam war, were they considered Liberals? As see, I might have a completly different description of a Liberal than those who like to Laugh at Liberals,
I think it is time for this girl to explain what the today Liberal really is and believes in.
And to you, I salute you for your service to our country. To go where you went and to do what you did, take more guts, more strength of mind, more love for his country than many of those who sit back and complain and write and complain and say God bless the USA, because God does not fight wars people like you and I do that job.
God Bless all of those who put themselves in harms way so others may write on Laugh at Liberals without fear of being taken away in the middle of the night. (at least for now that is)

    Oh one last comment.
Iraq, it would not matter one bit if I did or did not believe in that war, if my country calls me to duty, I go, without question. Without regard for my personal beliefs, as being in the militay is a choice now, was not for you.
But I have been in a different type of service than you were.
Though I went is about the time you went over.
Guess I must have been about age 3 (woment never give there age)

  9. Russ, as a very patriotic person, that admires what our military does for us at home, I’d like to say that all of you that have fought and died for what you believed what is right, have my respect no matter what…

Suzanne, I agree with you on how the liberal media has betrayed our soldiers in Vietnam, and left the dark spot on our American history…..But I also hope that you will have help whenever you need it in your life along the way….*thinks for a moment* woah, that sounded wierd….
