Same-sex Marriage Ban Initiatives
Whats the deal with all of these same-sex marriage ban initiatives on the ballots last election? Even in my home state of Wisconsin this issue was voted on and passed. Why can’t homosexuals get the same rights as heterosexuals?
I know it is a slippery slope and people fear that if homosexuals can marry, that there will be a “Waterfall Effect” where people will be able to marry anything. But there is no scientific evidence supporting this point. However, it has been shown that homosexual couples living together and raising a child fair just as well as heterosexual couples. There is much more scientific evidence showing how capable homosexuals are at parenting.
Also, saying that homosexuals are condemned in the Bible seems to be another point used to defend the same-sex marriage ban. However, the Bible condemns homosexual acts as a sin, not homosexuality. The church even recently came out saying that same point and that discrimination against homosexuals is unacceptable.
Also, homosexuality is just as innate as heterosexuality. Homosexuals cannot become heterosexual if they want to like many try and show. But trying to change homosexuals and showing that they can change is more negative fuel to this homophobic fire. If people can change their sexuality, then where are the people who want and try to become homosexual?
Why are these laws/amendments being passed? What is so wrong with homosexuals that make people feel so strongly against them that they want to pass legislation? People put out a lot of propaganda trying to show the immorality of homosexuality, but they truely love each other and should get the same rights as heterosexuals. If you don’t like gay marriage, then don’t get one, but don’t prevent others from being equal.

I’m Moving To Canada….Oh Wait, That’s Even Worse!
Remember all of the talk of people leaving America if George Bush was elected in 2004? Canada was bracing for an onslaught of disgruntled ex-patriot Americans to arrive as they escaped the hell that America would become under a Bush second term.
Where are conservatives going to run? The answer is….WE’RE NOT RUNNING! The Republican party was trounced last night, with only a few bright spots to consider, but we are not the party that will sell out our country and our souls to win an election.
I don’t know if it is still true now, but as of last night, no Democrat incumbent lost. Democrats picked up 29 seats in the house and, as of this posting, are waiting to find out if they will take majority control of the senate, which means they will have picked up 4 to 6 seats in the senate. Compared to the last 60 years of American politics, last night was about average for a second term president and party in power. But last night was not a loss for conservatisim. It was a loss for individuals and the Republican party as a whole, but not conservatism.
Many of the gains made by Democrats last night were made by candidates who ran as conservatives. They’ll have to prove to the people that voted for them that they aren’t liars. One of the most telling victories last night was Joe Lieberman. The majority of his votes came from independents, then Republicans, then Democrats, in that order. He won his state with a solidly pro-Iraq stance. Heath Schuler is another example of a conservative Democrat with a pro-Iraq stance winning. With a new majority in the house, Democrats will have two years to skate by, still playing the roll of opposition party, but the party of no ideas will eventually have to come up with something other than we hate Bush as a position on Iraq.
Scandal killed the Republicans. Whether real or trumped up BS, scandal has made the Republican party look like a bunch of crooks. The failure of the Bush administration to demonstrate why we are safer from terrorist and why we are winning in Iraq killed the Republicans. Actually, it was probably more agregious that congressional Republicans cut and ran on Iraq in this election. If they would have had a collective voice on the war, things might have turned out differently. Being spineless killed the Republicans. On immigration, on judges, on governing. The national Republican leadership didn’t lead.
This is not a referendum for America. This is a wake up call for the Republican party. Get back to your conservative roots before the Democrats beat you there. Otherwise, I’m going to Canada…or Mexico….or….Iraq!
Democrats Will Stop At Nothing
I am sitting here monitoring the web for stories about the voting taking place all over the country. It shouldn’t surprise me, but I’ve seen about 10 stories of intimidation, irregularity, malfunctions, blah, blah, blah, blah…. The common thread among all these stories is that the complaints were coming from Democrats in majority democrat precincts and blame was usually being place on Republicans.
Why is that in every recent election it is Democrats that cry foul? Do you ever hear Republicans complaining. I can’t think of any recent stories where Republicans have complained that they were fooled, or misled or intimidated.
Democrat lawyers in Tennessee are already pre-paring a lawsuit to keep polls open later because of early problems. Why? How much do you want to bet that the polling places they want kept open later are all in Democratic precincts? The irony is that all of the polling places experiencing problems are in Democratic precincts, which means Democrats are the ones running the polls.
Do today’s Democrats have any shame? Or are they just to stupid to vote?
Get Ready For The Lawyers
I have been watching and reading a lot of news lately and I have come to the conclusion that the Democratic strategy for victory this election is going to lead through the courts. The groundwork is already being laid for challenges to election results.
DEMOCRATIC PLAYBOOK FOR 2006
Watch for reports of intimidation by Republicans. This is a tried and true Democrat strategy. Cry wolf and see if it sticks.
What for accusations that voting machines failed or were tampered with. To many stories have been floated, pre-election, talking about malfunctions, missing cards, ways to tamper, etc.
Any really close races could be tied up in court battles for several weeks. Since 2000 the Democrats have made forcing election results into the legal system a party platform. It WILL happen again Tuesday.
See you on the other side.
Conservatives Must Vote
Don’t beleive the media hype about a Democratic blowout. It can only happen if Republicans and conservatives fail in their responsibility to vote. In Missouri, where I live and all across the nation, the battleground is on our turf. The house and senate seats up for grabs are Republican held which means they are ours to lose.
WHAT IS AT STAKE?
The war on terror is a war. It is being fought everyday in Iraq, Afghanistan and in dozens of other ways, both overtly and covertly, all around the globe. We are at war with Iran. Voting for Democratic control of congress won’t change Bush’s Iraq policy or how he is leading our country in the war on terror. What it will do is give the very unserious, hungry for power Democrats a better opportunity to battle our commander in cheif while he is fighting to protect our nation. Make no mistake. A Democratic takeover of congress will make the biggest front in the war on terror in Washington D.C.
The economy is booming. The stock market is at an all time high. Gas prices are lower and steady. Unemployment is at an all time low and the American job machine is creating more and more jobs. There is not a stronger economy in the entire world. Now I am a firm believer that governemnt doesn’t do a whole lot to affect the economy, but the two things that government can do….tax and regulate, are on the right path under Republican control. If you want higher taxes and more government attempts to try and solve your problems…vote for a Democrat, cause that’s what you’ll get.
From the 1950’s through the 1990’s, for more than 40 years, Democrats controlled congress. Think about that. Republicans have had control of congress for about 10 years. A shift back to Democratic controll of both houses could be with us for a long time. The Democrats are not grown up enough to lead this nation in these trouble times. Now more than ever we need a party of principle and conviction to steady us through the storm.
My challenge to all Republicans and conservatives is to vote on election day, vote your heart and your head and encourage everyone you know to vote too.
We’ll see you on the other side.
I Would like Answers
The reasoning against embryonic stem cell research is an assumption. Like many other right-wing reasoning, this research will lead to cloning. This writter claims that liberals only look at the positives about the research without looking at the negative. Well why do conservatives do the opposite? Where is the proof that people will do the worst and clone humans?
This position reflects many conservative beliefs, mainly gay marriage and yes I am bringing it up. With many initiatives on the ballots, this issue will play a major role in politics. Therefore, there needs to be an informative debate on the issue. Why does the right seem to think the worst when it comes to homosexuals? If they can marry, then why can’t zoophilia or pedophilia also be accepted? You cannot link these issues together without any evidence. If you don’t, it looks remarkably like discrimination.
I’m not a hardcore liberal that wants to poke fun at conservatives. Rather, I am a curious student who wants to know the issues to base my opinions. Everything I see about the right is negative, and I don’t want to that to mare my beliefs.
The Embryonic Stem Cell Lie
Embryonic stem cell research that we hear so much about is nothing more than a promise of what could be. That’s the little white lie of the left. While real discoveries and breakthroughs using adult stem cells and umbilical stem cells are barely getting noticed in the left-wing media, any mention of what embryonic stem cell research “might” do is getting front page coverage.
That’s not to say that embryonic stem cell research couldn’t yield positive results. Right now there are just not enough embryos available here in America to do the work….and that’s the big lie. For now, let’s leave aside the fact that embryos could be obtained outside of the United States.
According to recent estimates, there are about 400,000 embryos stored in fertility clinics around the country. Unfortunately it will take millions of eggs to conduct the type of research that bio-tech firms want to do. Where will those eggs come from. From “donors” according to the bio-tech industry, but lets be real. Missouri’s Amendment 2 allow for compensation to “donors” to harvest their eggs. So what kind of woman is going to undergo a potentially dangerous procedure to “dontate” her eggs to scientific research? Well, she’ll be young, she’ll be hard up for cash and she’ll probably be black. That’s why black conservatives in Missouri are starting to weigh in on amendment 2.
In “An Open Letter of Warning” from African American Leaders in Missouri the leaders ask, “Where will eggs come from? The answer is from young vunerable women, with the majority of them being African Americans…” I wonder how Claire McCaskill is going to sell that to black voters. Amendment 2 is a bad idea for Missouri and America and the more McCaskill pushes for it, with the help of Michael J. Fox, the more she is going to give black voters in Missouri pause to consider an alternative to again voting for a Democrat who supports an Amendment that will prey upon poor black women.
