QUAGMIRE, TIME TO PULL OUT!

First of all let me say that I am a strong supporter of our troops, but when faced with the incredible number of violent deaths, 18 dead in the last 17 days, I must put aside partisanship and say it is time to pull out….of Washington D.C.

OH DID YOU THINK I MEANT IRAQ? Noooooo. Iraq is a cakewalk compared to Washington D.C. In fact, right now at this moment, there are more Americans dying violent deaths in Washington D.C. than in Iraq. It is a quagmire, a lost cause, and the only sensible thing to do is to pull out now before we spend more money in a failed effort to save this city. After all, it’s not even one of the 50 states. It’s just a “district”.

Better yet, let’s take all these citizens and put them on C-130 transports and take them directly to Iraq where, statistically speaking, they will be much safer. Not only from flying bullets, but also from the wandering politicians.

  1. Ah, so there are other non liberals on the planet.

  2. I don’t exactly like liberals, Nutslikebush is the only one with arguments close to valid. The rest of them are bugs on the windshield. I have spoke to registered democrats that have some sense in them. (Such as agreeing on minning for oil in Alaska, although at this point the high gas prices have everyone agreeing on that.)

“Broadly speaking, modern liberalism places the rights of the individual above the needs of the group.”

Translation; Liberals are greedy people ignorant of the world.

And no, Christ was not a liberal.

  3. If Jullian still visits this site he/she will want to argue this topic, since, in the past she has claimed jesus as a liberal (which is as far from the truth as it can get, you could even call the mascot of the leftwing extreamists the antichrist.)

  4. With the bulk of America’s military parked in Baghdad, and having so far poured over $350 BILLION (with a B) into this project, we still can’t secure Baghdad. Over 2000 civilians were killed in sectarian (i.e. Iraqi against Iraqi) violence in Baghdad last month. It costs over $20,000 one-way for an escort from the airport to the green zone. I want to make an offer to Buck. You pay for me and my family to vacation for one week in Washington DC and I will pay for you and your family to spend a week vacationing in Baghdad. As part of the deal, you have to visit at least 5 museums, have dinner at 5 local restraunts, take a walk around the town for at least 1 hour every evening. I will do the same in DC. And we will post pictures of our trip on your site here. I have a feeling that we would see your picture on TV before the week was up pleading for your life and when you are found, your head will not be attached to the rest of your body. But it is still fun to joke about how safe Baghdad is isn’t it. But think about it, your are just playing games and not facing reality.

  5. Speaking of reality, I’ll be looking forward to actually hearing/reading about a workable plan that the libs come up with for resolving the Middle East, Iran, Iraq situations.
Also watching closely for the flawless execution of said plans.
    Question:
If there were only POLITICAL liberals and mistakes were made, would it still be someone else’s fault?

  6. Yes. Oh, and by the way, their plan will be; “Get our troops home! Get our troops home! I don’t care if we can save lives, american lives are more important than the rest of the world! Yes, I don’t care if we leave the entire middle east in a civil war (much worse than we found it)! I don’t care if Iran can develope nuculear weapons in six years because of this! I am trying to get my pools up, let the next president deal with that.” Six years later another republican steps into office, saves Americas butt from a huge crisis that happens immediatly after his election, and takes the blame for a few lives that were lost. That republican doesn’t quite finish cleaning up and, thanks to the media, a democrat is elected who ‘helps’ our economy and completely ignores all future problems. History will repeat itself, and tell you what, OUR ECONOMY ISN”T GOING TO DO US ANY GOOD IF WE’RE ALL DEAD!

  7. On comment #5, the answer is simple. Ask Bush what he would do. Then do exactly the opposite. That is the formula for success.

  8. There is no possible way that the US military can be of any use in helping straighten things out in Iraq or stop Iran from developing its nuclear energy program. I certainly hope they don’t soon develop weapons grade material, but it worries me much more that Pakistan already has nuclear weapons and they are apparently cozy with al qaeda etc. But none of these problems are military problems and they never have been. They are purely political problems that require extremely clever international negotiation on many levels. Threats won’t work either, because we have proven that we can’t back up our threats. We have enboldened the world by showing that with all of our military might we can’t even secure Baghdad, a single city. A war with Iran would be suicidal because they actually are armed and potentially dangerous, unlike Iraq. What we need are smart leaders, not illiterate cocky cowboys who don’t understand the world that we actually live in. This is not a bar room brawl or a frat party. This is about global international negotiations and team building among nations that must work together to stop fundamentalism.

  9. Yes exactly, anybody but you!

  10. WOW! THE SECRET TO AVOIDING WAR IS TO NEGOTIATE, MABEY WE SSHOULD HAVE TRIED THIS FOR WW1 AND WW2. IM SURE HITLER WOULD HAVE GIVEN UP IF WE JUST TALKED TO HIM . I ONLY WISH WE COULD LIVE IN YOUR LITTLE WORLD, –WAKE UP TO REALITY WAR IS NESSASARY, WE WOULD NOT HAVE OUR OWN FREEDOM WITH OUT A FIGHT

  11. War is necessary, under certain circumstances. However, Iraq was neither the right place nor the right time. Instead of invading Iraq on the narrowest of pretexts, we should have consolidated our position in Afghanistan and secured democracy there. Then, and only then, should we have considered expanding the ‘war’ on terror. Instead, Bush dashed in blind, without adequate intelligence and now we have to try and sort out the mess his impetuosness has created.

  12. British_Nationalist,
I appreciate your position, especially in regards to Afghanistan. But it has to be considered in the context of what we knew at the time and the larger, longer view of the war on terror. We did not know that Iraq did not have WMD stockpiles. We did know that Sadaam was a state sponsor of various terrorist activities, but we also knew that the most important weapon against terror is democracy in the middle east. Especially a democracy between the two largest state sponsors of terror, Syria and Iran. You can argue about the timing, but Iraq was certainly the right place.

  13. The time WASN”T right, you are correct there British Nationalist. We should have attacked Iraq during Operation Desert Fox.

  14. Quite right, Kolran, back then we had a solid pretext for war as Saddam was clearly the unilateral aggressor and had invaded a democratic country. Bush Senior shouldn’t have stopped our tanks until they were in Baghdad and Saddam was deposed. By waiting for more than ten years before another confrontation we lost our pretext and the war no longer seems justified.

  15. This is the most stupid arguement. First off, there are more American’s in DC than are in Iraq. Why don’t we compare the number of IED’s betweem and Iraq and DC, and see how those compare? How about comparing the total number of deaths between Iraq and DC over the last 4 years?

  16. good article. very accurate description of the situation. did you every get to have that vacation in Baghdad you were planning?

  17. Wasn’t Jack planning that trip before he ditched us?
