Feel free to stand in front of them.

  1. who doesn’t stand behind the troops? it sure isn’t liberals if thats what you’re getting at.

  2. Thats what the Iraqi Security forces are for!

  3. Isn’t that what people who oppose the war in Iraq are doing? They are trying to protect the US troops from being unnecessarily massacred. One could argue, rightly I believe, that Americans who are standing in front of the troops and trying to protect them are bold heroes who represent the best of all that is American.

  4. What Bush and Congress are doing to our troops is stupid, cruel, and unconscionable. Our troops deserve better leadership than Bush can provide.

  5. If there’s going to be any better leadership for our troops than President Bush can provide, it won’t, of course, be anyone from the Marxist, er I mean Democrat leadership. (I do not think dems are marxist, but are deluded masses following the highly Marxist leadership of that party.)

No president, Democrat or Republican, is going to be pulling the troops out fast enough to suit the emotional minus logic impatient ‘this is much harder and longer than we thought it would be’ crowd.
Personally, I favor massive overnight troop withdrawl followed w/in 24 hours with intensive bombing of Iran and all known terrorist centers (perhaps with a side trip to N. Korea). Or, since our troops really won’t be doing that, I favor sending every illegal alien male 18 and up over to Iraq to fight for ‘their’ new country and earn the right to be here receiving benefits for themselves and their families. The thugs among them will get violence out of their systems or get a reality check on what happens when people can actually fight back. On that note, we can send all violent felons who want an ‘early out’ of prison to special forces training. Those who flunk out or can’t get in can be put where they Can be useful without being a threat (if necessary) to fellow Americans while at the same time getting that satisfaction that comes from doing something worthwhile.
Let’s let those living like thugs here face the thugs there who like to blow themselves and others up because…well…because! Let the punishment fit the crime and serve your country as well!
Then our real troops could possibly come home much faster and the ones who’ve had to pull several ‘tours’ as targets over there could actually let those who like that type of action go there and the over used troops could remember what family life is like. (Hopefully with the tv and radio off to keep out the whine of those who don’t have to actually do any of the work regarding this unpopular and ‘unconscionable’ war…there are so many popular short ones that are easy on the conscience to be had, don’tcha know).
Yes, pull out the overworked troops and send in the thugs and those wanting to be American without all those nasty legal steps. But leave enough seasoned troops just long enough to wind the newbies up and head them in the right direction - straight towards Iran and/or your local m____ue.
    Reality. Be there.

  6. Joy,
I have to agree with you in that both parties are populated by a bunch of losers. I must say, however, I don’t think that you really know what Marxism is if you think that democrats are marxists. They are not even close, so I can only conclude that you are just name calling and not trying to make a serious comparison. In truth, the democrats and the republicans are virtually identical twins (a sorry lot they both are) - which makes their fights particularly funny to watch since they don’t differ by an micron on any real issue.
As for Iraq and Iran, we had no business in Iraq in the first place. And we certainly only will bring nothing but trouble on ourselves if we screw around with Iran. What would be the point? None. What have we ever accomplished by sticking our nose in the middle east? Only trouble, that’s all. A real conservative would not be an interventionist, you must know that.
I heard an interview with a soldier yesterday who said that he would do another 15 month tour for no pay if a politician would come ride beside him and see how stupid the entire Iraq debacle is. So I agree with the idea of having the thugs (i.e., Washington Politicians) go over and do some time in Iraq. But they just start the wars, they don’t fight them.

  7. Sending convicted convicts to SF training is possibly the worst idea in human history. Hell, we already have a problem with violent thugs joining the army because of relaxed criminal record standards.

SF teaches you how to kill in ways Hollywood can’t even imagine, what happens if they survive? they come home to a get out of jail free card, plus a brand new bag of tricks on how to hurt people.

you’re better off putting them in supply.

it’s a decent thought, but trust me, we’re better off if the troops handle the war, while, granted 15 month deployments suck ass, I’d feel better if we were doing the job, not Pablo from the block who probably won’t give 2 shits or a damn about the United States army until he’s missing an arm, a leg, and his intestines are probably hanging out everywhere because he’d rather deal drugs in our ranks than pay attention to the IED sticking out the side of the road or Hajji yelling at him with an AK47

  8. Let’s say we didn’t have crazies and cons in SF, I prefer someone with some sort of morals covering my six. I have enough time dealing with my Iraqi counterparts selling us out, cons are oppertunist they’d probably sell us out just as quick. I’d rather have them doing trash clean up or something that doesn’t involve guns or trainning that gives them new ways to inhance their criminal ways. A few months ago I would have been all for bombing this crap hole but alot of the kids in my sector are my friends and they deserve a chance so I’ll pass on that. It’s tough here but it is in part because between America and the Iraqis everyone is pointing figers and laying blame, totally missing what is important to actually accomplishing the true goals…

  9. Jackson,
I respect you for serving the US and for doing your best to accomplish the task that has been set before you. I think that we all should do our best always to try to make the world better for our fellow man and our children. As for the situation in Iraq - I think that there are many different problems that have created a “perfect storm”, if you will. These problems include 1) that lack of a government (the collection of expatriates, tribal leaders, and religious fundamentalists who were “elected” by the Iraqi people are not capable of governing the country) 2) a collapse of Iraq’s infrastructure (they can’t even get electricity for more than 4 hours a day in the capital of the country), 3) a collapsed economy with more than 50% unemployment, 4) a civil war, 5) an insurgency against the US, 6) a small group of Al Qaeda nuts screwing with everyone. I am just sad that Bush sailed our ship directly into this storm. It was unnecessary and now all of the lofty original goals have been abandoned even by Bush and we are playing this thing out just to try to save face. It sucks when US soldiers have to die so Bush can try to save face.

  10. Joy,
If ever a person had the wrong name for the personality. Ironic, isn’t it?

  11. Joy, I find your suggestion that you put rapists and murderers into our elite special forces to be repugnant and offensive. I find it ironic that you post saying that the dems don’t support our troops enough, while you flagrantly dishonor us by not only putting convicted felons in our company, put by putting them among our best. You clearly don’t think much of men in uniform.

And Jackson, thanks for stepping up so that people like Joy don’t have to. Its a hell of a war, isnt it?

  12. hek ya, i agree with the slogan, soldiers do their job without getting rest, we do what we r told to do, we do what we promished to do, that is what we are doing. we have a family, loved ones back home. we are human like everyone else. if you pinch them it will hurt but we don’t care. Soldiers are loyal to their country and will always be.. support us, we don’t ask for nothing more but your support

  13. I like Bush because i have no critical thinking skills and brainless jingoism and anti-intellectualism is what ‘merica is all about.

  14. Bold Heroes for protecting our troops? What you think we dont know what we’re getting into? Our military is voluntary idiots…we arent retards, in fact most of my classmates SAT and ACT are significantly higher than any of your drippy liberal asses…we dont need protecting from a bunch of people who have no individual ideals that couldnt tell the difference from an M16 and an M&M

  15. What? Stand behind them like those in power, they make a nice shield don’t they?
and sir, Mr. USAFA Cadet, if your results are higher, why don’t you go into medicine, go help out some people??..
and i think anyone against the war would rather not need to know the difference between those weapons, as i think we’d all rather they never existed… If no one had weapons or armies in the first place and we got over our fears of each other, then no one would need weapons or armies.. i’m not trying to anger or anything, i just have my beliefs as you do. peace

  16. Uhhhh … what exactly does it mean to “stand behind the troops?” Does that mean advocating an unnecessary war and occupation? It seems to me that supporting the troops means protecting them from these sorts of follies. Haven’t you ever noticed that the senators and congressman who are the most careful about sending troops to war were once combat soldiers themselves and the ones quickest to advocate war never served?
