WHAT IS A LIBERAL? Part 2

A liberal is someone who believes that government is better able to run your life than you and that they should be running the government. Hillary Clinton’s ideology that it takes a village to raise a child is a great catch phrase but it’s not quite what she and liberals like her believe. In fact, that concept doesn’t work in uninison with the liberal mindset of moral equivilancy. A long time ago in this country, you could trust the village to raise your child because the village, as a whole, had the same ideas about right and wrong as you did.

I remember the first sociology text book I had in high school referring to homosexuality as abnormal behavior. We were not taught to hate homosexuals, we were just taught that it was contrary to nature. It was not normal. It was abnormal. Today it is considered normal to have a gay priest. Today homosexuality it is celebrated in movies and TV shows. MTV has a television show called “A Shot At Love with Tila Tequila.” The premise of the show is that a group of men are competing against a group of women to win a “relationship” with Tila Tequila, a young woman who became famous by having a provacative web site and who is not sure if she wants a man or a woman as her lover…or both!

Is that the village you want to help raise my grandkids?

Liberals want a strong federal government because it is far removed from the people and easier to manipulate. One of Rush Limbaugh’s sayings that I just love is, “Whenever liberals have to compete in the arena of ideas they lose.” That is why liberals want to thin out the competition by competing on the federal level. The closer elections are to the people, the fewer liberals you find.

  1. First of all let’s start with definitions. Liberal: Open to new behaviors and opinions.

Conservative: Holding to traditional attitudes and values. resistant to change.

Second: Conservatives want big Federal government even more than liberals. The federal government under the Bush administration is the largest in history. They just push that money towards the military and the big corporations rather than the people who need the help most

Third: Homosexuality is found throughout nature. It exists in most primates and many other species. The human genome project has found genes which trigger homosexuality. It is clearly part of our natural code and if you believe God designed that code then God wanted homosexuality to exist.

  2. Steve Morris (any relationship to Phillip?),

The human genome project has found genes which trigger homosexuality: this is fact. But at most, that’s a confirmed hypothesis, and there has been no extensive proof of that evidence. Secondly, if you believe that to be fact, they also support the fact that there are genes that trigger people to commit rape, murder, and suicide. Does that mean some people are just born to be killers and rapists?

Well if so… then suddenly I’m beginning to support abortion.

  3. Steve,
You’re right. Homosexuality is found throughout nature AND IT’S CALLED ABNORMAL BEHAVIOUR! It’s called survival of the fittest. Darwin’s Theory and you can’t argue it both ways. If the homosexual gene is triggered and prevents propogation of the species, wouldn’t that, according to Darwin, make homosexuals unfit. Let’s ponder further.

Let’s agree that the human genome project has discovered a gene that can cause homosexuality. That would mean that every person has it, but in order for it to “cause” homosexuality it would have to MUTATE…Right? It would have to be triggered during some developmental stage to activate. It would be a mutation…something not normally found…
    in other words…ABNORMAL….Right?

  4. Buck,
On homosexuality - and I am not defending or critiquing any sexual orientation because I couldn’t care less about this (non)issue. The data show that homosexual humans get plenty of heterosexual mating opportunities and take advantage of them. Among non-humans, homosexual mating is often more common than other-sex mating. For example, more than 80% of copulations by rams is with another male and it seems to promote peace in the herd (the subordinate males that let the dominant male copulate with them get their butts kicked by him less). I suspect that human homosexual behavior probably has some of the same underlying motivations too (promoting strong social relationships, attracting other-sex mates by appearing less threatening than dominant males). Finally, most interestingly, and certainly most ironically, most people who copulate with members of the same sex consider themselves heterosexual. Those facts throw the whole phenomenon in a different light for me. Things are never as simple as we wish they were.

  5. all genes are mutations of some other gene. We each have, on average, about 175 unique mutations in our individual genomes. Some promote our reproductive success, some are neutral, and some hinder it. The ones that promote it will be more widely represented in the gene pool over time. And vice versa. That having been said, there is no evidence that homosexual behavior is genetic. Certainly it is not controlled by any single gene, no complex behavior is.

  6. Buck,
I find your article confusing. Are you saying that MTV is a government project. I thought it was a private sector free market enterprise. Isn’t the entire sexual industry just answering to the free market demands? Sometimes the invisible hand of the market does some nasty stuff. But I don’t think you can blame MTV or their weird perverted market share on the government.

  7. Nuts, Okay, I was rambling a bit there. My basic premise is this. I don’t buy the idea that you are ‘born” a homosexual or it’s a genetic defect or whatever. It’s a choice. Period. End of story….but the liberal mindset in our society and in politics, says we MUST accept homosexuality precisely because it is not a choice. Now there is a pushby liberals to have sexual preference protected by the same laws that protect the handicapped from discrimination. Come on.

And no, MTV is not a government institution but it is certainly a cog in the liberal media machine. Also, I don’t buy the idea that everything you see on TV is answering a demand from the market. More often than not what you see on TV is somebody’s idea of what people want to see. Is there a great demand to see people die in car accidents? No…but are most people titillated by the spector of a dead body at an accident scene. Yes.

Liberal programmers and producers are always wanting to PUSH THE ENVELOPE….the public isnt’ demanding it. That’s just what they get.

  8. Buck,
I am pretty sure that I don’t understand the origin(s) of homosexual behavior. I am not a big fan of people flaunting their sexuality whether it is homo, hetero, or bi. I have some friends and extended family members who engage in homosexual behavior. I have no interest in discussing it with them just as I have no interest in discussing anyone’s sex life. In general, I don’t care if they want to put their unit in a pickle slicer; it’s between them and the pickle slicer. But our culture is extremely sexualized, which I think is a distraction from more interesting aspects of life.

As for the media, I personally can’t stand most of what is on TV and go for months at a time without turning on a TV set in my house. My kids don’t even want to watch TV, which I take as a good sign about their intellectual development. The MTV style stuff is moronic. Hip Hop is complete shit through and through. But I have a different opinion on where it comes from than you do. I think that it is just the free market at work. The people driving the media are pursuing niches in the free market to try to make money. Do they promote issues just to capture market share? I think so. I don’t think there is a lot of sophisticated political strategy underlying what happens in the media. They are trying to sell their commercial slots and just want to capture bigger and bigger audiences so they can sell their commercial slots for more money. And the market seems to be abundant for all kinds of low quality material and it also seems like a natural market process for people in the media business to capitalize on those opportunities. If people don’t watch it (or listen to it), it will go away because it won’t sell advertising time.
