McCain Picks Sarah Palin-Are You Kidding Me?
Alaska’s govenor Sarah Palin is now the presumptive Republican nominee for vice president.
When I read the news the first thing that came to mind was Admiral James Stockdale. Remember him. That was Ross Perot’s running mate in his ill-fated independent bid for the presidency. In his first major public appearance, a vice presidential debate, Stockdale’s first statement was, “Many of you are probably asking, who am I? Why am I here?”
I had the same initial response to Palin. Who is that? I have to admit, I’ve never even heard of her until this morning. Now that she is on the verge of becoming the Republican nominee for vice president, I guess it’s time we asked those same questions. Who is she?…and more importantly, Why is she here?
Palin’s govenor’s web site, McCain’s web site and a hot, fresh entry at Wikipedia reveal a young, fresh faced Alaskan govenor who came from humble beginnings and apparently has a strong moral compass. She served two terms on the Wasilla Alaska city council, got elected as the towns mayor and won the office of govenor by beating a Republican incumbent and a former Democratic govenor in the process.
It’s a pretty thin record for a Vice President, but technically, she has more executive experience than any of the candidates, including McCain. Still I was blown away by the pick until I started looking at the second question…Why is she here?
First of all, the obvious. She is a woman. McCain needs to woo the conservatives who were supporting Hillary because of her gender and Palin may help do that. Secondly she is a staunch pro-life advocate, and a woman, which will please the pro-life evangelicals. She is young, which helps negate McCain’s age issue and I think she also changes the dynamic of the “experience” debate. McCain has tried, unsuccesfully, to use Obama’s lack of experience. How can Palin’s lack of experience be called into question? She has a track record of controlling spending and making tough budget choices.
Most importantly though, Palin is a maverick. Just like McCain. She has bucked her own party on more than one occasion. She has brought corruption and ethics charges against fellow Republicans who deserved it. She has also taken the oil industry to task in Alaska. A tough thing to do.
Palin’s pick sends a signal from McCain. Not just to Obama, but to the Republican establishment in Washington. If McCain wins, you can bet he’ll turn Palin loose on the DC-GOP club to clean up any lingering questions about ethics and pork-barrell spending. Unlike a lot of Washington insiders, like Biden, Obama and even McCain, Palin is not beholden to special interests, fellow party members or other inside the beltway loansharks. One gets the impression from reading her bio that if she loses the election, she’d be just fine heading back to Alaska for some hunting and fishing.
Look out Washington. You’ve just met probably the most dangerous political animal ever. A conservative woman candidate for VP with absolutely nothing to lose.
Oh yeah, she’s a hottie too!
JOE BIDEN! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
Well, I guess Barak Obama could have picked someone with a more grating personality, but Hulk Hogan was busy with his new show. Joe Biden! Are you kidding me? Is Barak hoping that Biden will help him win Delaware and bring strength to his campaign in the liberal NorthEast? Is he hoping that Biden’s spectacular personality will help him win over the Evangelical vote in the South?
I know that Joe Biden brings experience to the Obama campaign, but I can’t think of to many other liberal Democrats that have a more grating personality with mainstream and swing voters than does Joe Biden. I also can’t think of any other liberal Democrat that has such proficiency with an insulting phrase as Biden.
Remember that back during the campaign Biden said Obama was “clean and articulate”, which some of the fanatical left and reactionairy media callled veiled racism.
Remember that Biden said “You can’t go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin Donuts in Delaware unless you have an Indian accent.”, which some took as an affront to Indian-Americans.
Biden is like Harry Truman, on a drunken bender. He gives ‘em hell, then tops it off with a good insult to their mother. I’ve said in this space before that I think Hillary is still hovering in the wings just waiting to see if Obama screws up his nomination with some major gaff. This could be it. Not so much that picking Biden is a gaff, but Biden is sure to increase the possibility for a major blunder. Remember that anything can happen at the convention and Obama only has enough delegates because of the commitment of super delegates, who can vote for whoever they want at anytime they want. Come to think of it, that may be the real reason behind picking Biden. After decades in the Senate, he’s got a lot of political chips he can cash in. A lot of them with the very super delegates who could hand the nomination to Hillary.
If picking Biden is a defensive move by Obama, which it is by any measure, McCains prospects are already looking better.
OBAMA SHOULD PRAY THIS VIDEO GETS BANNED
Pundits, politicos and normal people have been politely saying hello to the 500 pound gorilla in the room, but just wait till the gorilla starts talking back.
The gorilla in question? Barak Obama’s faith.
The Rev. Jeremy Wright controversy was more about Wright than it was Obama so Barak was able to put that aside rather quickly. All that will change if the massive evangelical voting machine takes hold of Obama’s comments in this video.
Christians know that the Old Testement is full of ancient ceremony and obligation on the part of the Jewish people that was, in part, eliminated or replaced with new laws and obligations from the New Testament. In short, for Obama to claim that the Bible endorses slavery is just morally bankrupt.
Furthermore, the Sermon on the Mount is the seminal teaching by Jesus on how Christians should behave. Barak Obama basically scoffed at it in this video.
The more Evangelicals look at Obama’s take on the Bible, his allegience to Rev. Wright and the questions about his statements regarding faith, the harder it will be for these people to consider voting for him. In fact, instead of staying at home, they may feel obligated to vote for John McCain in order to keep Obama out of office.
In summation. DON’T COUNT HILLARY OUT JUST YET.
THE GLOBAL CLIMATE WARMING ICE AGE COMETH!
I saw an article linked on Drudgereport stating that a Mexican scientist was predicting an ice age. My first thought was, Mexico has a scientist? My second thought was, why would a Mexican scientist be studying ice. Now if the headline had read, Mexican Scientist Predicts Tequila Shortage or Mexican Scientist Says Geologic Formations Will Prevent Tunneling Under New Border Fence, then that would have fit my stereotypical ideal of what a Mexican scientist would be studying.
Then after thinking about the idea some more I determined that a little ice age is exactly what this continent needs to shake things up a bit. Think about it.
There is a major climate shift and temperatures in the United States begin to plummet. The first thing that would happen is Mexican’s who are here illegally would say, “Hey, screw dis Esse. Its too frickin cold to stay here. Lets go home.” Thus begins the mass migration of 11 million illegal aliens back across the border. We’ll actually have to tear down the border fence to let them go back home.
Unfortunately that’s precisely when the snowbirds will start to infiltrate from the Great White North and I promise you. The Canadians will not take the jobs we lazy American’s don’t want.

I know you might think Mexicans have the reputation of being lazy, but these Canadians are ten times as bad. Ever hear of a Canadian migrant worker? Ever hear the phrase, “the Canadian work ethic?” I didn’t think so. So while the little ice age predicted by the Mexican scientist will help solve the problem of illegal immigration, it forces us to confront a looming national crisis. The Canadian Invasion!
They tried sneaking in the back door back in the 90’s when the Canadian Football League came to the United States. We thwarted that attack, and I no longer hold any ill will for Doug Flutie, but if a new ice age comes, keep your eyes on the north!
