I watched excerpts of Wright’s sermon last night on CNN. He had (what looked to be) his bible opened in front of him on the pulpit, but the hateful message he was spewing came not from the word of God but just the opposite. Unfortunately, Wright’s message was not about Jesus’ redemtive love, compassion, mercy and grace but that God is mad at the rich white man for how we’ve treated the poor or oppressed black man. Slavery and bigotry was and is an atrocious act against mankind, but unforgiveness rots the soul. It’s like drinking poison and expecting the person you’re mad at to get sick. Instead of Wright leading his flock to feel victimized, perhaps he should look into Martin Luther King Jr.’s message on forgiveness, healing, and unity.
I am concerned that Obama, in being a member of this church, might secretly harbour (it would be political suicide to admit his true feelings) some of the same unforgiveness and hatred toward his fellow man. Didn’t his wife recently say, “This is the first time I am proud of my country?” The whole issue is very scary to me!
and michelle obama said “for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country.” emphasis on really. that means that she had been proud before, but now she’s really proud. spin anything you want against the obamas and nothing will stick. look at clinton’s failures to attack obama.
