BILL CLINTON MIGHT BE RIGHT
This past weekend, Bill Clinton said Barak Obama could not defeat John McCain in the general election, and he may be right. Obama’s pollyannish fervor about change and we can do better doesn’t hold much water when it is scrutinized against actual policy. I keep waiting for Rodney King to endorse Obama and offer to let him use the image of him saying “Can’t we all just get along” as a campaign slogan. Obama has a lot of style, but not much substance.
McCain is already attacking his weaknesses. As the ‘inevitability” of Obama’s nomination looms, McCain is starting to focus his attacks on Obama’s simplistic view of Iraq. It was a brilliant move to invite Obama to Iraq for a tour. Brilliant! It really exposed the fundamental flaw in Obama’s basic logic regarding America’s interest in the Middle East. Obama wants to “talk it out” with Iran, but he’s done talking in Iraq? It doesnt’ make sense. We have soldiers on the ground in Iraq, a vested interest in seeing the country thrive and be a successful democracy, but in Obama’s world, it’s time to cut them loose and let them sink or swim. In the case of Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, Obama wants to ” do lunch” and maybe have an after hours mixer. A meet and greet. Good Lord.
I think another weakness McCain will exploit is Obama’s number one agenda, climate change? You know that issue may sound good in the brainstorming session, but where the rubber meets the road, out here in America, the vast majority of us realize that the climate is pretty much going to do what it wants to do. It’s pretty much up to God and mother nature, right? I mean come on people. If we could actually have a government policy that could effect the climate, don’t you think we would have already? Don’t you think we could have used those vast powers in other areas too, like fighting to stop earthquakes. After all, it’s our constitutional right to live on ground that doesnt’ vibrate!
The feel good, let’s change all the bad things and live in harmony theme of the Obama campaign is going to be picked apart by McCain and the new media. Bill Clinton might be right. Obama may not be able to win.
His only hope is an electorate that’s to stupid to know the difference between hype and truth.

Well … it is true that the “stupid” electorate that voted Bush into office twice will have to be overcome. However, it is not Obama’s campaign that is in trouble but McCains. All indications are that he has not or was not able to capitalize on the drawn out Democratic nomination and is significantly struggling to get any traction going. Combine this problem with an all but slam dunk landslide victory by Democrats running for Congressional seats and you have the makings of a Republican party meltdown. Rove and Co. have possibly fatally wounded the Republican party to the point that it may end up going the way of the Whigs.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if McCain doesn’t have to lift a finger. Given enough time Obama will seal his own fate and deliver his own coup de grace
