Before my liberal friends comment on the improper grammer, as they are wont to do, in the headline, it is meant to be read in the Shakespearn sense. Perhaps more accurately in the biblical sense. My father used to use a similar phrase to inspire courage and peace amongst his congregation.
“If God be for us, who can be against us?”
I’ve coopted the phrase for my own sinical view of how the liberal Hollywood elite hold the piety of their own political dogma in such high esteem. From Matt Damon to Cameron Diaz. From George Clooney to Susan Sarandon. The Hollywood-Showbiz-Celebrity Culture Club is convinced that sloaganeering, slick pacakging and a healthy dose of the typical “let’s just hire someone to do it” mentality, can save the planet. Bush, global warming, Palin, corporate greed and everyone opposed to sex education, gay marriage and Obama just need to be wowed!
And if we don’t buy it, then the problem is us because we just don’t get it.
You see Hollywood is tired of having critically acclaimed politics. They want a block-buster political wind to blow across the country, from right to left. Hollywood’s liberals can’t be satisfied with being uber rich, adored and above the pettiness of the average American life. They want all of us who have to live the average American life to live it, not like they do, but like they think we should live it. I can hear the script brainstorming session now.
MATT: Before Ben and I became millionaires with lots of houses and the need to never, ever worry about money again we use to be regular poor people and this Sarah Palin thing is like a bad Disney movie.
SUSAN: Well what this country needs is a good script with characters that are believable, like Thelma and Louise. That movie was huge because deep down inside, every woman wants to escape their mundane lives, have a lesbian fling, go on a killing spree and committ suicide.
ROSIE:Yeah, what she said!
GEORGE: Now wait a minute girls, this script has to be smart, funny and have a great ending but most importantly the lead character has to be compelling and has to appeal to a broad audience
STEVEN:No, NO NO! Special Effects is the key!
MATT: Everybody shutup, Chuck Norris is coming!
Hollywood liberals have the monopoly on awards shows, movies, television, music and all the pop culture influences that can sway opinion and they can’t pass the opportunity to use these at every turn in their effort to convince us that we don’t know diddly.
The problem with the Hollywood-Showbiz-Celebrity Culture Club is that they think their reality is reality. What, other than celebrity, qualifies Matt Damon to get an audience of millions to slam Sarah Palin? What makes his opinion more valid and worthy of world wide publication more so than mine, or my wife, or daughter…or for that matter my dog?
I get tired of looking up thier noses while they pontificate about how what they preach is what I need to practice, even though they don’t.
If Hollywood is for it, I’m probably against it?
