RACE, RELIGION & THE POLITICS OF SELF-DESTRUCTION

Will somebody please give the Democrats the Suicide Hotline phone number! They’re trying to kill themselves by shoving their feet in their mouths.

“JESUS CHRIST WAS A COMMUNITY ORGANIZER, PONTIUS PILATE WAS A GOVENOR:”
In the latest attempt to smear Sarah Palin, the Democrat talking points memo being circulated uses the quip above to compare Barack Obama to Jesus Christ and Sarah Palin to Pontius Pilate, the Roman Govenor who sentenced Jesus to death. Do they really think this is going to play in middle America? They must. How else would Susan Sarandon, Donna Brazille and Democrat Congressman Cohen from TN all use this exact phrase on the same day on three different nationally broadcast programs? It was an organized effort to make that saying the “it” phrase of the week. I hope they have succeeded.

I hope everybody in America hears how these people compare Obama to Christ and Sarah Palin to Pilate. I hope everybody hears their ham-handed apologies for saying it. Like Cohen did when asked about it on MSNBC.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: “Congressman Cohen, was Jesus a community organizer? I thought he was a carpenter.”

COHEN: Well, he was several things, but he was an agent for change and he was outside the system. I certainly didn’t mean to compare Barack Obama to Jesus as a –

MATTHEWS: Now, Al Sharpton is a community organizer. Jesus was a carpenter. I just think — how do you make — why do you come up with comparisons like that?

COHEN: They are dangerous and I shouldn’t have done it. The first minute of my speech was accurate. It was the disingenuousness of the Republicans condemning community activists who had brought about most of the change in America. I’d seen a — a bumper sticker on my e-mail that morning from an activist friend in Memphis, those things are more for activists and less for congressmen, and I’ve learned from this particular speech.

He learned it after thousands of emails and phone calls and blog posts started hammering him is what happened. The audacity of hope indeed.

THE RACE VOTE IS A TWO WAY STREET
I’ve been hearing more talk ginning up the “race vote” controversy and most of it is extremely one sided and coming from liberals. The basic premise is that there are a lot of white people out there who won’t vote for Barack Obama because he’s black. I’m sure there are some but this idea is being passed off as though secretly, millions of white people are closet racist who are going to boil down their decision to the color of skin. A premise for which there is absolutely no factual basis. What you almost never hear is how many blacks won’t vote for McCain because he is white and running against a black man. How many blacks will vote for Obama simply because he is black? There is ample survey evidence to indicate that it will be millions. Of course this is no problem for McCain because the black vote is historically a blind, monolithic pull of the lever on the left.

This is the year that the liberal Democrat party should have steamrolled over the Republicans, but they got greedy and they let their true feelings out, to quickly. Now it looks like they may lose the race for the White House and congress is starting to look more like a race than ever before. How is it possible?

Self-Destruction: The Democratic Part is not the part of Harry Truman, Lyndon Johnson and Hubert Humphrey. The Democratic Party is a coalition of single issue liberal factions, left-wing radicals and government-first bureacrats who, when they espouse their true feelings about government, America and God, reveal that they have nothing in common with the vast majority of Americans.

Democrats want power so they can tell us how to live. They compare their leader to Jesus

Are you getting scared yet?

  2. Am I getting scared yet?

NO! I’ve been scared for a long time!

  3. i understand that buck is extremely partisian and leans towards the republican side, but repeating the meme “the democrats are imploding” doesn’t make it true. finding random remarks from random democrats has no bearing on the obama campaign or on the current political climate.

this is politics and people will come up with nice sounding slogans and may stretch the truth. obama and mccain are both guilty of this. however, focusing on obama’s buttons and not addressing mccain’s LIES is disingenuous.

the reason why the race is so close, buck, is because the mccain campaign are using every dirty tactic to try and steal this election. negative campaigning works, and the polls show this. again, the republicans don’t deserve to win the white house this election. what are they going to do to help bring america back from the brink if disaster?

  4. The Other Side – First of all, why do you not capitalize any letters? It’s annoying. Secondly, what is YOUR party going to do for this country? Raise taxes, socialize medicine, decrease our military (while having a cup of tea and talking sense into Al Queda), put more useless and poorly run Government jobs to good use, putting bans on drilling on our soil while working on alternative fuel, etc.??? I’d like to know what your idea of the American Dream is and what positive traits you feel your PARTY brings to the country. Furthermore, I feel you are extremely naive if you don’t believe that the Obama camp isn’t freaked out by Palin. The liberals are putting their feet in their mouths every time they open their mouths b/c McCain threw a curve ball that they didn’t anticipate coming.

  5. obama is going to bring a change to the economic policies that have ruined america. and its higher taxes to those making $250,000 or more. the rest, 95% are getting tax cuts and a rebate of $1000.

obama is going to actually talk to our enemies and try and resolve issues diplomatically. why are democrats labelled as soft on national security. are we supposed to pre-emptively attack every nation that has oil or that we are enemies with? because that has worked so well. bravado only leads to unneccesary wars and lower world standing. also, obama wants to increase the military. but thats hard to do when troops get shafted when they return home or get sent on numerous tours of duty. the bush administration has done little to increase the military and mccain supports the same policies.

don’t blame the government for being run poorly by republicans. they placed loyalty over compitence and the result is the current government. when obama places qualifications over loyalty, the government will run smoother.

healthcare should NEVER (like that) be run by companies trying to make a profit. remember those inalienable rights? well its hard to have life when you have a pre-existing condition or no insurance at all. we “socialize” schools, police, fire fighting and companies that royaly screw up (aig…), so why not give health care to everyone? and obama wouldn’t socialize medicine for everyone. his plan doesn’t have mandates and still allows people with existing plans to stay on them. throwing the “socialize” bomb is only a scare tactic.

tyra, look at what the mccain/palin campaign is doing. repeating all-ready debunked lies, fighting trooper-gate and not allowing palin to be interviewed. the bump in the polls from the convention is already gone. their campaign will be shown to have no new ideas and that there is nothing to fear from palin. what about her is so frightening?

oh, and its too hard to capitalize letters. this style defines me. (sarcasm).
