RANDOM THOUGHTS ON OBAMA, HILLARY, OPRAH AND THE OLYMPICS
It is funny and and frightening to watch liberals embrace “spirituality” for the purpose of political gain. Hillary wants to lay claim to as much of the “church-going” vote as she can, but she says it’s irrelavant to discuss when was the last time she went to church. I guess important people are just to busy for worship.
I heard Tom Daschle say that Barak Obama has spent his entire life working with the disenfranchised. Apparently he’s done some other work too, because the disenfranchised can’t pay enough to get you the kind of multi-million dollar crib Obama lives in. They also can’t afford the type of political donations and support you need to get from the state legislature, to Washington and to the largest fundraiser in the presidential campaign. Maybe, just maybe he’s found a little time to work in a few favors for the un-disenfranchised.
My pastor gave a heck of a sermon Sunday. He was warning us about “false light”. Teaching that sounds good and reasonable but is contrary to the word of God. He even named a few big names, Oprah Winfrey being one of them. I did some follow up after his sermon and discovered what he was talking about. Have you heard? Oprah and some author named Eckhart Tolle are starting a new religion. based on Tolle’s book “The Power of Now” and “A New Earth”. Oprah’s millions have bought her one of the biggest platforms on the planet and she is using it to foist her ideas on politics and religion upon the masses.
Isnt’ it funny how the same people who say we should “engage” and talk it out with Iran and our other terrorist enemies are the same ones saying we should boycott the Olympics in China.
You can’t have convictions based on the politics of the moment.
I’d like to buy James Carville for what he’s worth and sell him for what he thinks he’s worth. Carville is one of the chief purveyors of hate, vitriol and dirty politics of modern times. He ushered in the politics of destruction as Bill Clinton’s hatchet man. An honest, thoughtful opinion never escapes that man’s mouth.
Another great point from my pastor, Tim Hill (www.timhill.org) Isn’t it funny how all of these cult leaders teach doctrine that feeds their perversions. Having sex with 13 year old girls, sexual promiscutiy, money, power….

Yes, I’ve heard and prayed about the “New Earth” which is basically just a lot of “New Age” philosophy. Here are some of their beliefs: “All path’s lead to God”, “You are the light; therefore, God”, “There is no sin”, “Heaven isn’t a place…don’t concern yourself with it”. It appeals to the egos of individuals leading them to think that that they are God and can enhance their lives through their own person. If this is thought through, it becomes quickly apparent that this is impossible. We are born, grow up, live awhile on planet earth and die. Humans are finite. We can never be God. Since I am an imperfect, fallible and a mortal human being (using only 8% of my brain capacity), thinking of myself as God is scary, ridiculous and foolishly narcissistic.
The terrifying part is that it is very sutble and even Christians who aren’t on their guard and fully understand the scriptures regarding false prophets will be deceived. Oprah is very powerful, wealthy, seemingly a “good” person and popular. Isn’t that the sign of a true conterfeit…to subltely take biblical theology and tweek it just a little bit so that it sounds appealing to everyone? Jesus said “a tree is known by his fruit” (Matthew 12:33). When looking for “fruit,” here are three specific tests to apply to any teacher to determine the accuracy of his or her teaching: What does the teacher say about Jesus? Does this teacher preach the gospel? Does this teacher exhibit character qualities that glorify the Lord? For further study, review those books of the Bible that were written specifically to combat false teaching within the church: Galatians, 2 Peter, 2 John, and Jude. It is often difficult to spot a false teacher / false prophet. That is what a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is all about. Satan and his demons masquerade as “angels of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14), and his ministers masquerade as servants of righteousness (2 Corinthians 11:15). Only by being thoroughly familiar with the truth will we be able to recognize a counterfeit.
I am praying for Oprah to open her eyes and stop deceiving people…I even sent her an email telling her the truth. I hope she “gets” it!

religion has very good messages that guide people to good things. but i have a problem with the pastors who bring political issues, e.g. abortion and gay marraige, into the church to spread their warped view. if they would spend more time preaching about topics that played a larger part in the bible, then their wouldn’t be such hate about the aforemention issues. they’re barely mentioned in the bible but have become larger than life issues.
my priest when i grew up never talked about political issues during his homily. his homilies were about the readings of the day and he tied them to daily life. they were amazing and brought me into a different view of the world. he never talked about abortion or gay marraige and i respect him for it. his views were about the larger picture and not about specific issues.
thats how a person can be a democrat and still be spiritual (i’m not speaking for obama or clinton, they could be doing it for political reasons). my priest’s homilies were uplifting and led me to make my own decisions, instead of telling me what i should believe. the bible has its contradictions, but its where you put the emphasis that can lead to a specific world view. i put less emphasis on what homosexuals do and more on helping others and loving my neighbor.

Other side,
“religion has very good messages that guide people to good things. but i have a problem with the pastors who bring political issues, e.g. abortion and gay marraige, into the church to spread their warped view. if they would spend more time preaching about topics that played a larger part in the bible, then their wouldn’t be such hate about the aforemention issues. they’re barely mentioned in the bible but have become larger than life issues.”
I’m not really sure what this has to do with Oprah’s New Earth, but I’ll answer your statements this way: Religion is man-made; and thus, is based on man-made laws, rules, codes, etc… and not all religions teach “good” things, by the way, nor do people need religion to be “good” people. I know some athiest who are decent, and seemingly “good” people. The problem is that since human beings are fallable, sinful by nature and mortal, how can one be “good” enough? No matter how hard I try, I just can’t seem to be perfect. This is why it’s important to focus on having a relationship with God/Jesus; for this is all He really cares about, not whether or not we eat certain things or light candles or carry beads. In order to have a relationship with God, we have to get to know Him, so He gave us His Word, through the bible, so that we can literally “hear and see” Him speak to us. We can also have a relationship with Him through prayer. This is why prayer is so important. In doing these things, and believing in Jesus, we start to look at the world differently. God’s word becomes apart of who we are and how we live our lives. Did you know that some 2,000 specific prophecies in the Holy bible have already been fulfilled? Even more are yet to come! This is no coincidence.
If a preacher is speaking hatred towards homosexuals or abortionists, or any other sinner, then I would recommend checking these things with scripture…which undoubtedly you would find to be contradictory. For God hates all sin, not the sinner, but sin. He loves us, wants us to live under His mercy and grace, and to keep our eyes focused on His truth. The reason why abortion and gay marriage have become such a hot political topic is not because of “religion” but because they have become (or are trying to become) the laws of our land. As a believer of God’s Word, how can I vote for laws that are clearly sinful in the eyes of God? That would be hypocritical. I would leading people who don’t know the Word of God astray into believing that their actions are okay, when they are not. Don’t blame the church for taking a stand on God’s Word…that is the church’s job.
All this being said, politics is, for the most part, a sleazy business. This is why putting all our faith in any MAN will undoubtedly lead to destruction. Besides, only God is soveriegn and even though we think we are in charge, it’s all up to Him in the end. I choose Him and His word to guide my decisions; not my pastors; not my husbands; not my neighbors; not this blog; God alone. If Chrisitans can’t stand up for God’s Word now in a free country, how will be able to endure it if our freedom is stripped from us? Ignorance is not an excuse, especially not in America, so use the knowledge and the freedom God has given you and use it wisely!

It boils down to a politicization of Christianity. That is always the beginning of the end for a religion. Then it goes from (to use the cross as a symbol) a vertical (liberating) religion to a horizontal (non-liberating) institution. Our founding fathers tried to protect Christianity by separating it from government, but man-being-man, it is our human nature to eventually try and blend the two. You would think that the Dark Ages would have taught us a lesson, and I guess Europeans did learn, but America is taking the road of harsh experience. We’ll learn, but in the interim the Church is going to take a big hit. Sad, but I guess it can’t be any other way.
