WHO ARE THE REAL RACIST IN AMERICA?
I’ve been enthralled at the comments posted about Barak Obama’s speech regarding racism in America. They’ve ranged from apathetic to complete denial of the issue at hand.
I thought the speech was profound and significant in a number of ways. First and foremost, Obama must be applauded for the truth he spoke. It’s not easy for a politician, any politician, to speak candidly about any subject, let alone one as explosive as racism and I think Obama spoke candidly about SOME of the important aspects racism in America today. The problem is the dialogue has to go much deeper and be much more honest and candid if true racial healing can begin.
Racism is perpetuated by modern society. It is learned. We are not born racist. Have you ever seen little babies play together? They might recognize that something is different, but they don’t look at each other as inherently better or worse, just different, until they are taught to do so! Until their parents or family members teaches them to hate the difference. Until they start watching TV or reading books that teach them to hate.
You see racism comes down to people. That phrase “institutional racism” is hogwash! People are the agents racial divide and only people can hate. So if you want to start having a real discussion about race in America, you’ve got to start talking about people. So who are the real racists in America? Maybe the better question to ask is, who is causing the most racial strife in America?
THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY: The most skilled white supremist organization in America today is the Democratic party. The Democrats are run by a bunch of rich white men who have, for nearly 40 years, convinced black America that that they have their best interest at heart. And 40 years after the civil rights movement, and 40 years after Martin Luther King’s dream was voiced, and for 40 long years of bussing, affirmative action and all the social experiments, the black welfare state has grown exponetially, prisons have become overcrowded with black men, much of black America is still in poverty and the ruling elite of the Democrats are still rich white men! THE KKK SHOULD BE TAKING NOTES!
THE RACE INDUSTRY: Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, NAACP, SCLC and a host of other individuals and organizations thrive on racism. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and a number of black leaders have made careers out of racism. They preach it, they teach it and they call attention to it’s most inconsequential forms because it’s good for their pocket book. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU EVER HEARD ABOUT A KKK RALLEY? CAN YOU NAME A WHITE SUPREMICST LEADER, ANYBODY, WHO HAS AS MUCH NATIONAL RECOGNITION, CLOUT AND RESPECT AS JESSE JACKSON OR AL SHARPTON? Who are they doing battle with?
THE BLACK CHURCH: White America has seen what goes on in, not all, but in many black churches all across America. Rev. Wright’s “sermon” of hate for America is not the isolated rants of one man. Recent studies show that the majority of black American’s beleive that AIDS was created by the government. A sitting, senior black elected leader, Maxine Waters, believes and tells her constituants that crack cocaine was created by the CIA and that the CIA helps distribute it and keep it flourishing in the the black community.
People, the fox is in the hen house! Racism is being perpetuated by the very people and institutions that benefit from it’s existence.
Now I am not so stupid as to think that we can wipe out racism. There will always be hate and evil in this world, but we have eliminated, ELIMINATED, institutional racism. There is no law, in existence anywhere that prevents a black man from receiving the same opportunities as a white man. Racism that does exist, exists in the hearts and minds of the haters and the hated. Barak Obama is proof. He stands a reasonable chance of becoming the most powerful leader on the planet. What else is there? Economic equality? The same opportunity is there for all. To be sure, there is some catch up that has to be made for black families who cannot benefit from generations of acquired wealth. But that is a red herring! My father left me no wealth, no home, no land, no business. Does that make me a victim? Does that prevent me from building my own wealth, owning my own home? No!
I applaude Obama for making a bold speech but he is part of the problem. As my friend Zack pointed out to me in a recent email his favorite quote from Obama recently is “My friends we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you will join with me as we try to change it.” The irony is thick enough to spread with a knife but it’s typical of the mind set of liberals like Obama, Jackson, Sharpton, Wright, Clinton, The Democrats and the liberal elite. Their power comes from the idea of oppression. If oppression is defeated, conservatism wins.

i don’t know much about the failures of some of the social programs that the democrats proposed. but i cannot believe that buck doesn’t think that the republicans play no role in racial inequality.
i understand that a fundamental belief of conservatism is the emphasis on the individual. people can spend their money better than the government and so on. but not everyone is born into the same situation nor do they have the same unbringing. buck may not have been given much from his father, but that doesn’t mean that other people don’t need help. their community is different and may need more help from other people. just using one example from buck’s life and generalizing it to an entire race is disingenuous. you can find success stories anywhere, but that doesn’t mean you can trivialize suffering. some people are placed in impossible positions with no hope of advancement.
the power of democrats comes from the idea that a community needs to help their own. denmark is the happiest country in the world. they have high taxes but many government ran programs. danes don’t have to worry about health care or transportation and they still make a good living. its the job of the government to help those in need.

The Other side - Absolutely, people need each other. That’s why Jesus focused so much on “loving your neighbor as yourself.” When Jesus walked the earth, he did not try to change the Government, the laws or politics, he tried to change the heart of man. He knew that the only REAL change would come from love, compassion and servitude to each other. America’s Government may give less to other countries than other indultrialized nations, but statistic show that our citizens are the most giving people in the world. Look at what happened with Katrina. The Government failed those poor people miserably (ironically they had a Democratic Governor and Mayor), but the citizens (specifically in Houston, TX) formed an alliance, worked together and helped so many people. I personally would like our Government to focus on things that average citizens can’t do…such as protecting our borders, the military, foreign policy, etc…
Furthermore, the Government has no way of personally knowing a Mrs. Smith, who is a diabetic, living on Medicaid with no realtives to help her; she is just a number. Only her neighbors or her community know and can truly meet her needs. Louisiana had a whopping 80% of their population dependent on the Government. They were so used to the Government taking care of them, they were paralyzed to help themselves. This is what happens when the Government puts people in total dependence. Wouldn’t it have worked better if the citizens decided to help each other…afterall, don’t they know each other’s situations much better than Capital Hill? For instance, our church has a HUGE single parents’ ministry where they, on an individual basis, help meet their finiancial, emotional, spiritual and educational needs. I can guarantee you these people feel much more blessed being helped by individual people that care for them.
“It’s the job of the Government to help those in need” is what the Other Side wrote…but that’s not what the Consitution says. That’s not what our forefather’s had in mind.

The other side is more like the far side. Buck didn’t generalize his life to an entire race he equated it to another person’s life. His point is precisly that identity politics itself is the problem and we are a country of individuals, not groups. And Democrats exploit group think.

Hey Other Side,
You almost got it right. The power of Democrats comes from people needing help. That’s why they want to keep a permanent welfare class. Without it, they have no power because they have no ideas. Every liberal social experiment is a failure because it starts with the basic premise that government, as run by liberals, is more capable of running your life than you are.
I don’t for a second trivialize the needy. I’ve been one of them, but the being conditioned to expect the government to care for you has nothing to do with America and nothing to do with greatness. It is a defeatest attitude. Check out the information in my next post. It’s astounding!

basing beliefs on hope, e.g. hoping one’s community will help their neighbors, neglects human nature. most people will look out for numero uno. true, it would be ideal for people to look out for each other, but thats not reality.
why do people need hundreds of millions of dollars? why don’t they have to pay the same tax rate as lower income people? the trickle-down theory assumes that people with a lot of money are going to re-invest the money into the economy and make jobs. i still don’t get how buying five cars or an xbox 360 finds its way into the paying for roads or the national debt. its sure hasn’t worked in the last few years. taxes are an integral part of how money is diverted to important community needs.
people who have a lot of money will want to keep it for themselves. look at what happens with de-regulation with the housing market. people made poor investments to ultimately make money and they failed. insurance companies want to make money, so they find any way to prevent payouts at the detriment of the people.
its true that many people rely too heavily on welfare services that prevent them from working towards success. but instead of cutting the services america needs to invest in structural changes. more money for education, more money towards comprehensive sexual education, more money towards infrastructure, get us out of iraq. we need taxes to pay for our huge debt and other under-funded programs. we cannot just allocate money from one place to another. we need more money coming into our government than leaving or else our kids will be paying for it.
america gets what it pays for and right now things are looking pretty cheap. maybe at my young age i’m too cynical about my fellow americans, but there is little room for optimism when i’m living paycheck to paycheck. jpdaly says that we’re a country of individuals. true enough. but we’re also all americans, and some illegal aliens. thats a pretty big group. we all need to do are parts to give back and not hope for the best.

The Other Side - We absolutely need taxes to run a country. Our point was that we don’t need to inslave individuals to a system that doesn’t impower them to “help themselves”. I agree with you, the theme of America is excess…and it is shameful! I’m embarrassed that our country has gotten so greedy, and overly-indulgent.

Racism has nothing to do with Dem or Rep it’s in man. I’m not for welfare or the people who hide behind racism to justify getting wlefare or the people who can’t blame their own laziness for their plite but I will say this as a mixed race American I have felt the power of racism in simple situations as getting a table to a pick up basketball game at the park. People are racist and they are on both colors of the spectrum. To defeat racism, it must start in the home then schools and hopefully one day in our goverment and the people who run it. If your white I feel your arguments but I also feel your sterotype. If your black I know all about the cops pulling you over for no apparent logical reason but because your black, but I also don’t feel safe in an all black neighborhood. So black and white when you can get the hate out of your hearts maybe we things will get better…

tyra, i think our current system puts too much power in the hands of americans. we need a balance of government intervention and personal responsibility. in the past seven years we’ve skewed too far towards personal responsibility. but i guess it makes sense that the man in charge of america in that time is taking all of the power for himself and saying screw you to congress.
