OCCUPY STUPIDITY

One of my favorite Far Side cartoons of all time was a picture of a parading group of protesters marching down the street, united arm-in-arm, holding a sign that said imbeciles untie….and the sign was upside down.

That should be the slogan for the Occupy Wall Street gang and their cohorts who have staged similar protests in other cities.

These morons have no idea why they are there. Their protesting “corporate greed” and politics as usual. Of course, they’re tweeting on their Iphones and Droids, supporting two of the greediest most monopolistic companies in the communications industry. Then they call for more government programs and spending. Imbeciles Untie!!!!

These same people and the media that supports them call Tea Partiers, racists and dangerous, then they take a break to attack policemen and take a dump in a squad car. Nice. Imbeciles…UNTIE!!!!

This is the astroturf movement of all time. Bought and paid for by progressive action committees and unions. Yes Mr. union truck driver, your dues are funding all this.

When you watch interviews with these people, they have no idea why they are there. The ones who can articulate a list of greivances are calling for nothing short than the overthrow of the government and abolishing the free market as we know it. Forgive all debt from credit cards to student loans to mortgages! Tax the rich!

Those people are there because of two possibilities. Either they don’t work and suck of the government teat which is being funded by the rich they protest against, or, they come from wealthy, tax paying parents who support their deadbeat offspring!

You idiots want a job? Pick up the friggin trash you’re leaving everywhere and trade in the aluminum beer cans at the recycling center!

The Democrat Party has become the enemy of tradition American values. Occupy Wall Street is the new face of the Democrat Party.

Hows that Hope and change thing working out for you?

    Hey, The Other Side:
    They’re called “capital letters.”
    Look into them.

  2. The Other Side says:

the tea party continues to receive un-warranted positive publicity. they have been propped up since their beginnings, when obama was elected.

whenever you hear about ows its either because arrests were made or because some pundit is taking shots at them for being jobless hippies who only want to play bongos. with that publicity, people who don’t pay attention to politics see this movement as dangerous or annoying. not much mention of the reason for why this group of people is so angry. and no one on this site wants to debate the content of the protests, they only posts about how stoopid they are.

the informer-all you want is to say your piece then move on? how can you formulate a strong opinion if you don’t debate? not ever learning about the other side conviniently allows you to keep safe opinions and not think critically. that mindset means that you’re never wrong but it also means that you will never come to an agreement. that’s what wrong with republicans in congress…strong views and no attempt to even understand the other side.

  3. The Informer says:

No matter, I wasn’t searching for a response to my point, just stating it. (My name is “the informer”, not “the debator” :P )

Last time I checked, the conservatives were not making a big deal out of it. In fact, I actually only heard it as a rumor and looked it up online. I would hardly call it character assassination and the ows movement has definitely not recieved the same ill-attention that the tea party had. But to what reason?

Both groups are significantly alike, just supporting separate views. I don’t understand why people see them as so different from one another.

  4. The Other Side says:

how is it that tea partiers say “get the government out of my medicare?”

i know that my response is avoiding your point the informer but using small (suspect) evidence to completly de-legitimize an entire movement still neglects to address the claims of occupy wall street. and it also glosses over the significant hypocracy of those who support the tea party and deride ows. why are conservatives resorting to character assassination of ows instead of addressing the issues?

  5. The Informer says:

A DC organizer actually admitted to paying “occupy dc” protesters. Know that?

How is it that a group that protests greed needs to be paid to protest it? Now THATS ironic.

  6. The Other Side says:

    so ironic.

you would defend the tea party from the same claims that you throw at occupy wall street? like:

you call ows idiots? how? can you neglect how ignorant the tea party is. how many miss-spelled signs are at tea party events? how many historical inaccuracies come from bachmann’s mouth?

you call ows astroturf from unions? the same unions that joined after weeks of protests? but then you neglect how the tea party is bought and sold by conservative pacs like americans for prosperity? how can the most ignorant people in america (tea partiers) organize so well?

interviews with ows have been incoherent? why then did jesse lagreca pwn the media?

you actually think the media supports ows? why? because they ignored the protests for weeks and didn’t cover anything until violence and arrests were made? and pundits like erin burnett openly mocks them while fox news tears then apart? seriously? the media continues to question the validity of ows and can’t take them seriously. but this is the biggest irony of the post. the tea party has been propped up by fox news and cnn. they are taken seriously as a political force (debates, coverage, a caucus in congress) and its only because their ideas are promoted constantly by the media. why else would a rally with tens of people be shown on the media while rallies with thousands for progressive causes are ignored?

how can you completely deride the progressive movement’s anger and protests but love the tea party? they are so similar and if you cannot see that similarity then you are being partisian and dishonest.

but this entire post misses the point. you haven’t addressed their claims. why not? can you disagree with the fact that wall street destroyed the economy three years ago and no one has been held responsible? or the fact that 99% of americans have no voice in formulating economic ideas to help stimulate the economy? or that republicans are owned by wall street and democrats cater to them too? or that we have 9% unemployment, a horrible health care system and no support for those who are stuggling? why can’t you address the issues instead of attacking people who are using their rights to protest injustices? scared much?
